What pound test you using? We were at same spot and breaking off bottom fish on 25lb fluro. Btw those fish broke the 2lb record on Hawaii Fishing News website.
Bro have you tried cooking Eke like Cook Island’s . First you have to tenderise it and then put it on the rocks heating up for the Umu to get flavour and get some of the water out of it. Then you mix fresh coconut cream and chopped onions and octopus and wrap in banana leaf and put it in the Umu and put some Taro on top without wrapping it and if you want put some chicken pork and other things in it to make it worth your time. When the meat is cooked about 2 To 3 hours then you invite everyone over for dinner. Fresh drinking coconut to have with it. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander.
