What would be the maximum throughput for inter VLAN routing on an appliance with the home edition installed? I tested Sophos XG home edition some years ago and it seemed that throughput was limited to 1Gbps even when using 10Gbps interface (this was a virtualized appliance)
Kind of like the then new v6 controller update killed VLAN configs in switches. I was so glad to hang back on v5 for a while. We also are n-1 on Windows 11, just now rolling out 23H2 that has been pretty solid now that 24H2 is out and all the beta testers on 24H2 are experiencing the issues while we are not 😎
I have a Dell R710 running as my hypervisor right now lol. A R510 running UnRaid and a E210ii running PFSense. I was actually just about to move to some new lower power gear, running on generator right now lol. I'm going to cut from a server to a mini PC this I expect will make enough difference to be worth it vs a small change with a neewer server (Minisforum MS-01) the 12900H is more powerful than the R730 with a fraction of the cost, lower power, smaller, lighter, has 10gb Intel built in, etc. Only works as a replacement for my R710 hypervisor, so might get a R730XD to replace my R510 NAS but my servers use a lot less power than yours. Since the 7 series is 2 CPU the 510 worked better for power savings even with 1 CPU removed. Some key things. I'm using low voltage CPU and low voltage ram. I am lowering fan speed to lower noise but also has a big impact on power. And I got Gold rated power supplies instead of the lesser ones and I'm only only running 1 PSU and I tested and having both in added a lot of extra energy consumption. Running 8TB drives on the R710 and up to 18TB drives on the R510 with no problems. Java, I hate it. I keep a local copy of it and open the connection with it in portable mode so never actually install that version of Java and it prevents all the update headaches. I love this kind of content though used to be a server engineer and run enterprise and high end gear at home. A few things that held me back from upgrading. Back in the day the R730 was expensive, now it's not. Fan control via IPMI was not a thing yet and very important as my servers are in my office where I record and work. Now I am pretty sure we have that. Perpetual idrac, gen 6 it was part of the idrac so buying one from eBay with enterprise meant no license issues and no costs. Now I think we have perpetual on this generation but it's like a hack/key? I'll start looking to get one of these soon, and I'll have to make a video comparing it to my old server to see how my comparison looks vs yours.
Thanks. Nice and clear video. All the UCKG2+ systems I installed are failing now (after 1,5 - 2,5 years). All due to thermal issues with the first batch: swollen batteries and PoE issues. Also the second batch without the batteries. They fail due to overheating. After some research and measurements it all boiled down to very bad thermal design of the units. Insufficient CPU cooling. Battery directly on the flip side of the CPU. Bad harddisk cooling, etc. The factory installed Toshiba HDDs are the cheapest they could find. Lifespan max. 3 years if cooled properly. But not the case inside the UCKG2+. They run significantly cooler if you use a PD USB adapter instead of PoE. The PoE power convertor melts itself to oblivion. Changing form HDD to SSD will reduce thermal issues. But all in all it is a very badly designed product.
Playing around with it on a test console and gonna be honest it's working better than I expected but my expectations were in the ground. Weirdly enough it seems to work better when viewing camera feeds remotely then on site which is a little bizarre but I ain't complaining cause this will be great in like a year or two when they fix all the weird problems and support more of the ONVIF profiles
They should let you set the port to connect to.. If people don't mention it how will they know what fixes need putting in, it's the whole point of early access!! Common sense.. It's common sense not to put it on production environments, well guess people don't have common sense lol..
I see your Dream Wall is the Early Access version. The GA version has a much larger touch screen, which is more useful. Also there are additional cable management options on the GA model. That said, I've seen a lot of EA models in the field, and they are a great option. Put it in your equipment room on the wall, for people who don't want or need a rack. The built in WiFi AP is great, but you can add a couple of extra AP's if you need to as the Dream Wall has a really great PoE capacity. Only thing I don't like is having an SD Card for Protect storage. But I understand why they put SD only on this because the camera capacity is only about 6 cameras on the standard dream wall. I think people need to be more creative with cable management, more open minded, and then the cable management would make more sense. Cable Raceways are available if needed also. You did nail it at the end. People were concerned because it is different and they couldn't be think outside of rack mount. By the way, redundant power supplies is more for if a PSU fails, not if power coming in fails, so the design, although not ideal, still makes sense for using this in a hotel / small business situation.
f you ran into start/crash loop, just downgrade it at this moment SSH into UDMP/UNVR apt-get update apt-get install --reinstall --allow-downgrades unifi-protect=4.1.53 -y
Ive had a world of issues in regards to onvif with other manufacturers, didnt even know that UI was attempting to branch out and accept them which seems odd since theyre so hardcore about security so it seems odd for them to allow what’s essentially an open source program into their ecosystem. My issues have been these.. 1: I replace a old camera and the new one will auto enroll but says offline, if the new camera has newer firmware, you have to update the nvr with a flash drive followed by each old camera. 2: new camera new nvr and the nvr can see it but shows black screen Turns out that instead of changing the IP with your net tool, you double click the existing ip which takes you to a web page hosted by the camera where you agree to the terms of service. Then bam, it works. 3: onvif nvr cannot see the camera automatically, this time you do change the ip to the range that the nvr is looking for and check for ToS while at it. I have no idea why products that are now made to be plug and play are exhibiting different odd behaviors even with all new equipment. I only use 2 brands and they pick and choose their quarks from deployment to deployment. If UI doesnt launch you into an IP tool, then try to isolate the camera on a different switch with your own IP tool to activate it before associating it with the UI NVR. I havent tried this so might be wrong. Might have to reconfigure your pc as a host and connect the camera directly to it thru a power inserter like youd do with the old nanostations. Or maybe a software update will fix all of these problem. (We can dream, right?)
13:30 what do you mean you need an insecure version of java? At what point are you running a java application? Is that what iDRAC is built with, do you mean?
Does this all apply to the XG135 v2 ? From the spec sheet the main difference seems to be vga instead of hdmi and an older cpu C2538 instead of the C3558.
That's some serious nitpick, i guess they could put yellow and black tape on the sharp bits.. my real question on rackmount vs dev mount is plastic degredation, when will it become a problem 10yrs 15 20?
Rackstuds IMHO are just nicer to use, more flexible for sizes and easier to do up and undo by hand, Dev/Mounts claimed to not have sharp edges when they do, alot more difficult to grip and doup/undo by hand and are less flexible for use, plastic degradation I don't think will be the issue unless you have a rack left in direct sunlight for a very long time
Hi, Thanks for the video. I just bought a XGS 136 from ebay. I want to install SG Home on it. Is there a link or video with instructions to wipe and format the disk and install from usb ? Thanks
Even if I was payed 40$ for it's security seeing what it was done I was restricted use of it to all of my family members to use Kaspersky ever again after use of it strange persons was show up yes selling poisioned honey and so on, as only target I can say they do is slaying any device they are installed under over time we use they traps, they calculate any victim since Steam and other game shops like Blizzard Entertainment bring games for for free one of good ones I recommend is Age of Empires III Definitive Edition on Steam or Starcraft II on Blizzard Entertainment shop they won't gona give up so easy since believe in themselves was been hardly made by something like torrents God news they are closed they can't do any harm anymore to any person on Earth yes that can lead to actual hacker like Kaspersky for 50% more, how they was started they legal road to do most darkest works even everything was been for free they was been still online as old ghost movie Kasperky remake by Russia computer slayer I can imagine most of NASA super computer slayers anything like that is most luck for them if they start to believe in they help that never exists all was lead to Giveaway homepage they never give them out even all of them are 100% VIRUS originally I was found them one was NERO Burning room, Driver updates any one of them, if NASA stations are going down they must be on duty it's lime pub with no device return back at all giveaway homepage virus by them catched as Adware by Windows 10 Defender they originally are.
The battery died in my home CK+G2 a 2/3 years ago, which stopped the POE power working. Had to get QC3 cable and plug to get it back working. Just upgraded to UDM-Pro from SG-3100 last month (upgraded bricked it), so its now sitting gathering dust.
i got it to load, after reboot, it then it asked for a password, the keyboard stopped working at that point, except for a couple strings of gibberish as i was trying to get anything to come out, then back to nothing ...... both keyboards i tried are fine hooked up to computers.
Thanks for the video. Please note: At the moment you have activated MDR threat feeds, you forgot to click on Apply. Clicking Apply on X-Ops threats later does not apply MDR settings. I'm pretty much annoyed by the fact that ports stayed flipped: Port 1 is 5, and port 2 is 6. I have expected that native Sophos OS would map ports properly. Is there a way to fix that?
Sadly the port flip is purely down to the more generic nature of the SW image vs the Hardware Image, you can fix it manually by just setting up the port names in networking but it doesn't make any real world difference
Thank you for the very good video. Sadly the prices for used sophos go up on the last weeks here in Germany. Can i acess old sophos ap with this Home version of the FW?
Hello. While setting up acces point, should I type in default gateway, and primary and secondary dns? It is at screen in 10:59. But There are only zeroes. Just like at my case. I am totally noob at this and I am trying to set it up correctly. ATM this AP is working great for mobile Phones/tablets, but my xbox is struggeling to connect properly and works better connected to my all in one modem/router/ap. Also from this AP i dont get UPnP on xbox. 🤔 Apologies for this calling for help comment, I am not IT guy, but I want to try it and learn
Hi Jim great video. I have been looking online, but I can't find any info for the XGS 136, in your video you mentioned Home Edition is not supported. Do you know if that is still the case?
Hello Jim successfully followed your instruction to get a fully working Home edition on XG 135, also used "SHREDOS" to format XG135 hard drive successfully from and ISO booteed via USB. Could you PLEASE advise on a fan replacement part number so I can replace existing XG 135 fan with a quieter one, that would be greatly appreciated.
I really like your comments and agree with many of them, especially about the single SSID in relation to troubleshooting. The blue leds at the interface.. and the onboarding without beeing onsite. It's tough to predict the future because this Totally not a review you did 10 months from me typing this, but right now, with their partner in crime Purple for portals, the hardware controller, and the gateway around the corner.. Mwha its safe to say they are actually competing with Ubiquiti right now, do you agree? 😊
I was considering some TP Link Omada kit, but after seeing this its made me have to re-evaluate some stuff. I don't want to invest in a shit ton of kit only for it to redundant in a few years.
