On The Sideline Eye Podcast we discuss all things GAA within Armagh. We cover all Club & County action in Football, Hurling, Ladies Football & Camogie within the Orchard County.
Armagh GAA Folk will hate me for saying this but from 1999-2008 era Armagh were good enough & lucky enough to win 1 Sam Maguire but from 2003-2008 they were not good enough to win a 2nd Sam Maguire. There is no such thing as being the better team and result=losing the game so I know I won t see eye to eye with Oisin Mc Conville or others from that era!. It now falls on new generations each coming decade to win a 2nd Sam Maguire eg 2010-2019 now 2020-2029 (new decade after decade)
Dublin are Quietly sure confident that they can capture 7 in a row Sam Maguire & "worse still=they do STILL want it as Dublin's hunger has not being purged yet" Other 31 Counties Beware of the Dubs. Players can prepare for most things on the pitch "but luck is one thing that can never be bought in life whether you are an astrologer in your spare time or gambling spectator or active footballing player" We are all born with certain amount of luck and it is fixed from birth to death it never changes Fellas!
The great years of 1999-2008 are gone but i ll still keep on (and off interest=some years I may choose to miss most games to watch) with all things GAA what attracts me the most is the hard to call games I love the 1 point matches the most more than drawn games. If I can sense hard to call games coming then I auto will be drawn attracted back to GAA viewing I won t need prompting.
"You have to get the scores before you can the win". Colm Cooper recently on sunday game with Joanne Cantwell said nowadays you need approx 20 points to win a game against most counties these days. I know how fit gaa footballers truly are and must be years ago 2003-2006 when i did running jogging daily to lose weight it made me estimate how fit these guys are.
"I still expect Dublin to dominate this coming decade 2020-2029 regardless I know it does not sound good for other counties. I expect 2021 to be a lack lustre championship like 2020 was the sooner the back door Qualifier route comes back the better I prefer and I m in favour of 2nd chance for all counties" Bottom line the draw was good for Donegal but not enough for Armagh but high scores should be encouraging. I thinking of buying Sean Cavanagh book where he reflects on his footballing gaa career I have others from Mickey Harte, Jim Mc Guinness, Oisin Mc Conville, Joe Kernan, Colm Cooper & Bernard Brogan & Kevin Cassidy
I came across this video by 100% pure chance good discussion & in sport the saying "one man or team misfortune is another man or teams good fortune" very true accurate proverb!
