Welcome to my channel. My interests include ham radio, computers, media, musical instruments, especially synthesizers and bass guitars. I am frustrated by the lack of information especially any system using Linux OS. My intention is to explain how things are done as I discover how so we all can learn. Please read descriptions before watching my video. There may be a lot of explanations not in the video. Negative comments will not be displayed. I am not forcing you to watch my videos so no negative comments. Especially those who only have a few videos or small number of subscribers, you won't know how hard it is to create a video without a professional-quality equipment and with very limited time to create/edit/sound mix/etc. for a person with a full-time job somewhere else. You may want to get some satisfaction by saying "You suck" but you won't get that here. If you find my videos helpful, please subscribe to my channel, which will motivate me more to create more videos.
I get a Relocation failed: unsupported, failed to load image: unsupported, start_image() retuned unsupported errors when trying to boot to the USB installer. is there a fix to this?
Try using different version of OS. I did trial and error multiple times to get to work with my PC. Use good quality USB flash drive. Reformat USB flash and recreate the installer and try again.
I like what you mean are doing it but I get confused I can't hear you so and is very important to me can you please up the volume a little bit but and I can send you and show with the vidio where you are putting the wires in the keystep I will appreciate it thanks 👍apaa
MIDI OUT of Keystep goes to MIDI IN of UMH-21. USB Host of UMH-21 goes to USB of JT. Sorry about the sound. I didn't think anyone watch it. I need fund to buy a good mic. Anything costs money I am doing it for free. No money is coming from RU-vid.
Amazon has been showing the 6100 for $517 which is not that much more than the G90. This seams like a good deal as Amazon's price the premium for the 6200 is up to $282. You could almost buy the 6100 and an MCHF radio together for the price of the 6200. Or, move to the Yaesu FT710 without the speaker for $880 from R&L which is only $80 more than the Xiegu. I had an order in for the 6200 which I cancelled. It's a sexy radio asking for Japanese pricing but with cheap makeup. The 6100 seams like a very well priced radio for $517. If you want portable, how can you go wrong at that price?
I am not encouraging people to purchase X6100. If that's not obvious, that's my failure. As an owner, I've had so much headache with this radio. I am suggesting to do thorough research of the product you are about to buy. Xiegu quality control is hit or miss. Sexiness does not help actual QSOs either.
I wasn't seeing that price. OK, that's business price. My company won't allow me to buy it. Anyway, I won't call buying X6100 a bargain at any price. Brand new IC-705 for $1,000? That's bargain or steal if it's in fully-working condition. This is an owner of both radios speaking. X6100 - a lot of trouble, IC-705 - trouble free.
@@crazycats100 Yeah but the best price on the 705 that I've seen is $1340 from DX Eng. That means you buy the 6100 at $450 and the FT-710Field for $880 totaling $1330, which is still $10 cheaper than the 705. Granted you don't get qrp 2m/440 in that configuration, but you do have everything else and a 100W base station that is pretty small that you don't have to put at risk with outdoor POTA operations. To each his own. The 705 is an awesome radio. But, given all the SDRs at about $350 running Thetis or the large selection of open source hijacked-by-China running at $400 such as the MegaCheapHF (MCHF) M0NKA derivatives or even the ultra cool Russian TX-500, it's hard to justify the Icom at current pricing. Now if they dropped the 705 pricing to compete with the FT-710... then game on.
You can't. It's very old software and the publisher never had downloadable software for existing users. You may not know but the software only works with the hardware connected.
Thank you, your a life saver :) . i was getting slightly irritated... I have had a keystep37 for nearly 2 weeks and a roland s-1 abit longer. Not been able to make a sound together. i bought 2 different midi cables, i already had one type. none of my cables worked. Found a usb c cable, took me a few goes to figure out i had to set the midi through as well but after that music nirvana. I will probably take a hacksaw and a multimeter and a soldering to one of the cables once I'm less agitated as sometimes i won't need the computer i hope. thanks again.😀
@@crazycats100 Thank you for your quick reply. I'll give it a try if I decide to do this. Got it that you own the Xiegu X6100 not the G90. Thanks again.
Because I hate Windows. No, that disk was given by somebody else and I didn't bother format it before recording the video. Besides, I have too many Windows PCs.
it works just fine! Just make sure you don't use FW800 card with 800-400 cable, FW800 never worked in windows and is running on ancient broken driver. You should fetch FW card with via vt63xx series chip, it runs on VIA's own drivers raether than the Win XP-era microsoft FireWire driver. ✌
run "sudo apt install make" to install make. I reviewed my write-up and it's there. That means you didn't follow the instruction exactly. If you miss any command, it won't work.
ci fosse un pirlone che l'antenna stilo la tiri fuori prendendola dal basso...tirano dall'alto e la richiudono spingendo dall'alto....' Ahhh...sob...sigh...mi si è spezzato lo stilo...sigh'...
If you are capable, go ahead. The point is that those vendors do not disclose the frequency differences and take advantage of those who thought they got great bargain.
Bought mine last year at Hamvention. I'm still questioning whether I should have kept the 6100 and sold this. I'll be interested to see what you have to say.
Slightly confused here lol I’m not too good at computers and technical stuff. So you essentially put the r1cbuv20.0 file on the sd card, then copied the tgz file to the same sd card?
Yes. You copy the tgz to a particular location, not just anywhere. When you turn on the radio, the patch is automatically applied, which makes it version 0.20.1.
Thank you for the video and the introduction to MIDITools. I'd also like to use MIDIOx, but it does not play well with Windows 10. I am looking forward to using MIDITools. I am saddened that Roland has not included CC07 (MIDI Volume) in the S-1. CC07 has been in all of their synths for nearly 40 years.
😮what the….! I use the same radio, I have and play the same headless Bass Guitar (at church and have owned it for 30 years), except mine says Hohner and is red color, use a Lenovo Laptop with card reader, love cats (have two), enjoy my X6100 and use Oleg’s firmware. In my case, have an Inovato Linux mini-computer and installing was very easy. Next time, if there is a new upgrade (doubt it), will know how to do it from Windows. Thanks for sharing! 73 YS1RS
I haven’t done this yet, but thanks for this. Do you have to have an active developer account? I had Xcode installed in the past for iOS app development, but I’m not longer doing that and it’s quite bloated in general, so I had uninstalled it.
I have Ham Clock running but if I shut the computer down I have to go back to Command Prompt to restart everything, is there a way to write a task schedule to handle that on log in to windows?
See these videos. Someone already asked and I responded. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nCFIxYCHq-A.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1v9DOWGg7_4.html
Curious about the video tearing around 10:20 on the video - in the video it looks like just changing the font size resolved it? Running WSL Ubuntu under Windows 11, and that didn't work. Nothing I tried seems to fix that video tearing. But if I run a MobaXterm WSL-Ubuntu session on the same PC, and run the same program, it works fine. Any suggestions?
Maybe someday. I don't use X6100 much these days. The performance is not great. I did it for fun, not for any practical use. Configuring audio in X6100 Armbian is not straight-forward (unlike other Linux variants, that says a lot) and I almost forgot how. Sorry to disappoint, but wow factor of running everything in a radio with very weak CPU is gone a while ago for me.
I was going to put the address of the vendor to warn people not to buy there, but they tried their best to process my return so I won't. They acknowledged that there were some quality issues in their inventories. I still won't buy it for a foreseeable future but if you like to tinker with it, look for it on ebay.
Great review thanks ! Here is a tip ! The RADDY has what the ROCAM does not have and visa versa. The charging these possibilities are necessary if you have no grid ! ROCAM has DAB+ but not so good sound as RADDY...etz ! So if you have both connect them with audio USB and you got the best of both worlds! It's all default setup. I didn't have chance to change much because of frequent RSDs. I expect manufacturers to do some configuration and testing before shipping so users won't experience issues right away.
It takes some tinkering to get it optimal. No, the Chinese don’t do much with configuration. I noticed on your video that F8 was set to Files and not to menu so it kept trying to access the SD card and not bring up the menu
