I made a music demo of my carefully restored XA playing AR's demo record, you might like. Helping me spread the word on your forum would help my viewership so please feel free to share a link to it. Thanks. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d_EDuvPCJ04.html

Very nice! It sounds good, as well. I'm curious; what sort of current / voltage was it receiving at that speed?

Thanks. I am the poster of the original video you discussed in your forum. I am not on that forum but I am at AVSforum and have a thread about the video called: Audiophile Turntable 101: Acoustic Research AR-XA if anyone has questions. By the way, it is impossible for the XA to achieve 100% dead perfect neutral balance without knowing the location of the exact center of mass of the cartridge and this will vary brand to brand, and if the stylus guard is on or off. To achieve neutral balance the center of mass of both sides and the fulcrum must all be on the same plane.

Thanks. I just posted this because a lot of people did not believe that you can do this with one of there Tonearms. Your video is really amazing by the way.

Hi, I tried to make the Japan black with your recipe, but it is not drying. Do you mix the galsonite with raw linseed oil and then you mix it with the boiled linseed oil? Or both linseed oils should be boiled? Thank you.

This is a recipe from a 1912 book. You will need to cut it down to make a smaller batch but it is an original formula. Most of the ingredients can be bought on ebay. I get the Lead Litharge and Gilsonite from this guy on ebay. www.ebay.com/sch/quartzpegmatite/m.html?item=372559445104&hash=item56be45fc70%3Ag%3AjtYAAMXQ2UVQ8hja%3Ark%3A2%3Apf%3A0&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Black Japan Recipe From a 1912 paint recipe book. 6 Gallons Linseed oil boiled on low for 2 hours (For a 1lb recipe 19.2 oz) Then Take 40 lbs Gilsonite mixed with 8 gallons linseed oil and add it to the boiled linseed oil. (1lb Gilsonite and 25.6 oz linseed oil) Then add 7 lbs red lead, 7 lbs litharge and 3 lbs Copperas slowly in small quantities. (2.8 oz each lead and 1.2 oz Copperas) Keep the mixture boiling slowly for 4 hours longer and then let stand until the next day. when it is boiled until a small quantity taken out on a glass will, when rubbed or rolled in the fingers, set hard. It is now allowed to cool, and when sufficiently cold 30 gallons of turps are added. (96 oz) If after cold it is too stiff it can be warmed up and more turps added until it gets the right consistency. This Japan is used for all kinds of iron work about carriages that are to be black. It dries with a hard durable lustrous coat in about 8 hours.

What I made needs baked in an oven to dry. I do not think it will work for you.

@@universe9496 Thanks for your recipe. Three questions: 1) In the forum in which you wrote your posts for fan restorations, you stated that you followed Ford's Model T recipe as found on Wikipedia. This seems to be a different recipe? 2) I'm assuming you're buying linseed oil and not boiled linseed oil to begin with. If you are indeed buying BLO, why add extra dryers? 3) Related to #1, why go to all of the trouble to heat linseed oil and add your own dryers? BLO is pre-made with dryers already in it.
