Lol. It never happened. The movie is almost entirely fictional. And the "Ford GT40" was in reality the British Lola Mk6 renamed as the "Ford GT40" because Ford was writing the checks. The team was British, based out of Eric Broadley's shop in Slough England. Driver Ken Miles was British. Even the Ford engines were built in Britain, using British parts. Ford won Le Mans four times, using British Lolas. Toyota has won Le Mans five times, using Toyotas. Ferrari has won Le Mans TEN times, using Ferraris. And Porsche OWNS Le Mans with NINETEEN wins, all using Porsches.
Let's remember something: Originally, Henry Ford Sr. wanted to do nothing related to racing. *To his (grand)son, saying that, of a company that literally wanted nothing to do with racing cars, Ford II really meant his father had to see in person what his legacy has achieved.*
@@HirokaAkita Happy to help. Did you know that the "Ford GT40" wasn't a Ford? It was the British Lola Mk6 with the word "Ford" stuck on it, because Ford was writing the checks. The team was British, the driver was British, even the Ford engines were built in England using British parts.
I hated this scene so much. Been a while since I watched the show, but wasn't the main guy's whole thing supposed to be like "I'll never kill an unarmed enemy" like bull fuckin horse shit dude. found it “If I ever kill you, you'll be awake. You'll be facing me, and you'll be armed”
I was blurting out “Shhhut the fuck up!” for years apparently just like this and one day I wondered out loud what movie it came from and my wife reminded me. There’s so much I quote from this movie instinctively, lol.
Like Sam of all people would not know the state that the city he is referencing is in. He's repeatedly touted as a genius in the show, it doesn't pass the sniff test that he'd make a mistake like that.
The "Ford GT40" was in reality the British Lola Mk6 with the word "Ford" stuck on it because Ford was writing the checks. The Lola Mk6 was right-hand drive because it was British, and the shifter was in the right door sill, not in the center console.
Reminder that in the beginning of the movie, Carroll Shelby is told by his doctor that he has to retire, since his heart can't handle the huge increase in heart rate that comes with racing. That means that in this scene, while Ford is yelling, crying, and holding on for dear life, Shelby's barely got his heart rate up.
This movie will always have a special place in my heart. I watched it with my son and my terminally ill father at his home, He was 92 years old and was born in Ann Arbor Michigan and worked as V.P. at Henry Ford hospital. He remembered the Ford building which he called “the glass house”. He also recounted meeting Henry Ford the second. Our next door neighbor was a Ford engineer that worked on race suspensions. My father passed away a couple of weeks later. My son and I will always remember watching this movie with my father.
