I've got a tattoo that covers a good portion of my upper arm. I got the tattoo to cover a scar from 3rd degree burn from a time when I was new to welding. When you're young you don't believe the old guys when they tell you you're going to regret not wearing sleeves. I didn't believe an arc could cause "sunburn" but, after a 10hr shift in a tank top you start to realize them older folks aren't so full of shit after all.
I welded for 30 years her arms are going to look like a lobster and her legs are going to be on fire I'm 50 and what you will have at 50 are brains enough to protect yourself.
I knew an old-timer welder that would weld mobile home tongues on for me. He was 80 y/o and had welded with no protection minus a helmet his whole life. Best welder I've ever met, RIP Flop
Don’t worry I know what she means. I’m 28 and I have what most 50 year old people don’t have . My mortgage is payed off. My trucks are payed off I have my own business and I just got back from vacation and I was still generating income. I believe that’s what she meant.
A welder of 20 plus years I've caught more shoes, boots, pants and shirts on fire more times than I can remember 😂 alot of my long sleeve shirts are full of small holes all over from welding sparks especially from welding over head or welding in confined spaces
Good luck, those 50 year olds bought their houses in the late 90’s when they were dirt cheap with land and pole barns. You’ll never touch that in todays society doing bluecollar work unless you own a company
