Speaking of that 15 y/o groupie. From his friends, business partners, and even her, he was madly in love with her. I mean MADLY. Yet, he could not be attracted to men and her. He supposedly would have married her in an instant, even late in life, but it never came to pass. Some researchers believe it was this love that would never be, that catapulted him to drugs and sex binges to compensate for his sorrow and not his gay/bisexuality: not conforming with society's norms. In periods of sobriety, he would return wholeheartedly to his conservative Christian faith and deny his attraction to men. He did this until the very last minutes of his life and broke the hearts of many, especially the one true love in his life. If he had lived just a little longer, I think he would have died a happy and appreciative man. Unfortunately, the person who created an open book for modern music died a closed book, with tears covering the pages in every chapter. Having worked in my local school district for 20+ years and having served in the military with men and women who were 'secretly' gay or bi, I've seen too many lives destroyed because people see what they want to see and not look at the soul inside. When this happens, it destroys the spirit and the world is at a loss.
