I so remember that time. My father promised me a bicycle if I passed the 11 Plus. I failed the exam. My father never let me forget how I'd let the family down. However, Many years later I became a teacher. Failing that exam made me work harder.

The look on his face at 1:16:35 when he sings Sacha Distel. Hysterical!

Kenny (as he was known by his friends) was great pals with Dame Maggie Smith, who died yesterday, aged 89. I hope she's having a giggle with him.

I'm reminded of how in that scene he wrote for Garland in I Could Go On Singing, he was quoting her back at herself. So, the line about the pastry being rolled out is hers, yet it was entirely his truth also, and why he, eventually, ran screaming from Rank and the whole contract set up.

The thing with watching these LWT versions of older /earlier "An Audience with..." is the celebs in the audience - trying to remember who they are/were, and if they're alive, deceased, and or disgraced 😂

"I wonder if anyone will ever know about the emptiness of my life. I wonder if anyone will ever stand in a room that I have lived in, and touch the things that were once a part of my life, and wonder about me, and ask themselves what manner of man I was. How to ever tell them? How to ever explain? How to say that I never found Love - how to say that it was all my own fault - that when presented with it, I was afraid & so I spurned it, or laughed at it, or was cruel, and killed it: and knew that in the process I was killing myself." From KW's diaries

'Waspish'? @14:00 How strange? Exactly the term I used for him for my comment about Dirk Bogarde in another interview I've just viewed before this one on RU-vid. Russell Harty is the perfect probing gay interviewer for Dirk "I'm certainly in the shell and you haven't cracked it yet honey" Bogarde. RIP the both of them Bogarde and Harty. 🙂
