Railfanning the Norfolk Southern Lehigh, Reading, Harrisburg line and sometimes even the Pittsburg line, CSX Trenton Sub, Chesapeake and Delaware and Reading Northern
Those cranes don’t look like they’re big enough to lift the weight of half of a locomotive. Pretty sure it weighs about 400 tons. That’s 200 tons each. They don’t even have much counter weight on them WOW !! 😳 Maybe it only weighs 250 tons I can’t remember but it’s a lot of weight on those two crawlers that is for sure
I've only seen one locomotive that couldn't be rebuilt. It had hit an 18 wheeler loaded with a large crane so hard that it bent the 4 inch thick steel frame.
With the setup on the line pull must be weak having that many parts in the blocks in order to pick it up. That's a crawlers weakness over the side! And why the operator on the right keeps looking back at the tracks behind him! There both maxed out.
I worked at progress rail in Muncie Indiana. There was a crane on a track high above everyone. They picked up the finished locomotives daily above our heads. It was impressive lol
Landon U never believe who I saw last week went by my house in Molino at 5:33 PM NS 7699 ES44DC was leading NS 93G The Geometry train or FRA Train whatever it was! I was so surprised about it!
Ive,seen heavier engines, on these type of cars. No trucks, making them lighter, but taller. Longer wheelbase, on the cars, make it, work. All about, center of gravity. Great video
The "Big Yellow 'Thing' ", is an Environmental Protection BOOM. It is full of special absorbent materials that soak up oil, fuel, and other contaminants. It is a work of art. It is certainly NOT a "Thing".
