It's been 10 years, I keep on coming to this video and still thinking this is probably the best drum solo I've heard in my life. Giuliana is an absolute beast.
I love how.... it's 2022....and here is this guy....playing beautifully...and playing things that have never been played before on a simple little drum kit. It's very inspiring.
It feels inspired by Go Ahead John with Jack DeJohnette's drumming and Teo Macero's studio wizardry on Miles Davis' Big Fun album-a pretty unpopular album during the cocaine-fueled Disco era of the 1970s, but pretty bad-ass 50 years later.
I have giving Mark Guiliana money for master classes and albums, but I feel like I could send him more money for how many times I come back to this video for inspiration. Love it.
