I have been lucky enough to see Phil Collins perform LIVE, twice in my lifetime! Both the concerts I attended were in Philadelphia. The first time I saw him, was as a solo artist for the Serious Tour in Late Summer 1990 (Spectrum). The second time I saw him was when he performed with Genesis in December 2021 (Wells Fargo Center). I guess you can say that he sure put the "PHIL" in "PHILADELPHIA"!. All I can say is, Thank you, Phil. Thank you, Mike. Thank you, Tony. Thank you, Nic and Thank you, Daryl. Thank you, Chester.
This band is/was probably the best, most musical band Ive ever known. So inspiring and a band apart from Beatles, The Beachboys + a few more but this band is the one I learned the most from.
What a band and history. Starting with Peter Gabriel the first front man and Phil picking up the reins and taking the band to the next level. So lucky to have been around this most of my life. Started when I was born in 70.
13:20 There’s that classic Phil smirk that warms my heart in this case, because despite everything he’s gone through health wise, our beloved Phil is still there ❤❤❤❤
There will never be a band like Genesis again, but we should all be thankful that they existed in our lifetime. I love this band with my whole heart❤. I can't say enough about how their songs have brought me joy and sadness throughout my life, and I will miss them terribly.
Many tried, but no one ever managed to achieve the level of quality music that GENESIS have created. And to say it in the words of "ABBA" - Thank you for the music Tony Mike and Phil. However, the fact that GENESIS never released a live DVD from their Last Domino Tour tells you how bad it was, with all the songs transposed down by up to 7 o r8 tones and Phil's singing just about acceptable on the night, but perhaps not good enough for an official Live-release... Still the concerts were a great place to be to reminiscence about the past ;-), because at the end of the day "all we possess is the past" 🙂
Funny to hear 'Hey Mister Heartache' transferred into an acoustic slice of gentility. But it does work, and it least it gives an outing to a song she probably hasn't performed in decades, and certainly not in the UK (like most of them then). By the way Kim it's "stupid to believe" not foolish" and "yet" not but. Pity to do without the Junior-sung bit at the end, but I guess they deemed it wrong. "Lots to come?" That's hard to believe. This late in 2023 and they STILL haven't started that new album yet. Guess we'll get in 2030 then? Don't get the thanks of the career that's lasted 'so long' as according to her setlists and general attitude, it's only around 3 albums generally condensed into one, with leftover space for nothing but covers and Christmas songs! As for loads of live shows, hard to get excited about those when they're generally the same setlist for the past 20 years at least. Anything I'd wanna hear would likely never be played lest I do it myself at home. Least then I could avoid bloody 'kids In America'. Still glad she's here though, it's just a pity it means less then with Kylie Minogue and others who like their own stuff and don't think setlist should just contain the same 8 songs and a load of covers.
I first saw genesis at farnborough technical college in 1973 and I saw Peter Gabriel dancing about with a foxes head on. I thought what the heck is this….
Can’t blame PG for not wanting to do the nostalgia thing with his former band and mates. Being out of the band for over 4 decades he felt this wasn’t his band anymore. Furthermore, many fans and critics would be micromanaging him and expecting a carbon copy performance of the early days. I’m sure this was in the back of his mind. Sometimes it’s best to leave the past where it belongs…..in the rearview mirror. It has been an amazing ride for Genesis and the fans for half a century. We still have Steve Hackett performing the classic 70’s era Genesis which is amazing.
I suffered a serious health issue around the same time as Phil. It's affected so much of what I used to be able to do so I can relate to Phil's problems. I've been a fan since 1971 and have seen them live at least once on every tour, the last being 2007. This time around I couldn't gop due to mobility problems. I'm now glad because to see Phil as he is, requiring backing singers because his once mighty voice has gone would have broken my heart. Time is a real bastard as you get older.
Yh it hurts to see him in that poor ass condition etc...BUT I know that after 50yrs alone constant drumming, crushing vertebrae, surgeries, man oh man..thats alot..I only got to see em once, just once lol!!AND IT WAS THIS TOUR HERE,COLUMBUS,my buddy had a ticket and we went...I know sitting down too during the shows don't help either, that takes away more lung room that what little u already have lol!!I couldn't pass it up, and I loved the acoustic set they did!!the rest was u know, the hits, alot of stuff from 83-92...Nic was marvelous!!he plays like daddy lol..the background singers,I thought yh they helped actually, fleshed out the sound with extra percussion and vocals..even though alot didn't like the extra ppl,it helped,if they were gonna sound good with Phil and all..but hey at least I got a show, and show from Steve Hackett as well hahaha!! FOR GENESIS🥃🍻😁✌️🤟
