Thanks for this video, I have a vband interface that presents itself as a USB HID keyboard, which is similar to what you are doing here ant it works great with Morse-It, but could you explain what you mean by "Chaining the sequences together" at 1:55 ?
@NexxuSix
@NexxuSix Месяц назад
Chaining is an option under CW Ops that you can toggle on or off. When the option is on, it will advance through each segment of the lesson automatically. Otherwise, when off, it will stop at the end of the current segment you are on. Choose session, then Chain segment, or Stop chain to start of stop the chain process.

I have not tried hooking up a key to an iPhone, but it should work, provided the phone supports a hardware keyboard. I know the iPhone will support a Bluetooth keyboard, and should perhaps support a hardware keyboard as well. If it does, then it should work.

I'm using a setup as shown in the video: iPad (9th Generation) running ios 16.4.1; Ham Radio Solutions USB Paddle Interface v1.4; Apple ios compatible Lightning-to-USB interface ("Camera Adapter"). The paddle is a (classic) Vibroplex dual lever paddle. No matter how low I set the wpm Speed in the Settings, the result I get on the screen when using the "Tap" feature is two--sometimes three--dits for one tap on the dit lever and two or more dahs for one tap on dah paddle. So, for example, it's impossible to tap out the letter "a" because tapping the dit (of the letter "a" Morse combination "di-dah") produces an immediate display of a letter "i" on the screen--this is because "di-dah," i.e., two "dits" is the letter "i." With the setup per the current instructions (from the video) of the current Morse-It version (v10.0) the app is useless (for me, anyway) as a CW learning and skill enhancement tool. Perhaps a less than major app update can eliminate the doubling of dits and dahs entered using theHam Radio Solutions interface, camera interface and paddle combination.
@NexxuSix
@NexxuSix Год назад
Hello George! I do not have a Vibroplex classic dual lever to test this with. If the classic dual lever is like a standard iambic key (one lever per “switch”) you should have one input and two outputs like a standard iambic key (one for left, one for right) is this correct? I will pass this on to the developer, as there are some parts of the OS that may be causing this issue. Thank you es 73!
@PacoLabsGames
@PacoLabsGames Год назад
Hi George, I'm afraid this is not a problem in Morse-it itself, but I could be wrong. I had another user who had a similar problem, and it seemed that the problem was either in the OS or in the adapter. The problem could also be (as another commenter on this youtube video said) that your Vibroplex has contact bouncing (which could trigger erroneous keyboard events). (There are some tutorials on how to debounce a Vibroplex). There are some websites you can try to access with Safari to log the keystrokes. This allows you to test if the OS/adapter handles everything correctly and sends the correct keyboard key information at the right time: nothing more, nothing less. Another thing to check is that you're not using a keyboard extension on your phone. I had a user who reported that the GBoard was causing problems (but this may not be the case with Morse-it 10.0 anymore). Can you contact me directly at contact@pacolabs.com so I can investigate your problem (and give you the keyboard test url)? Thanks you.
@PacoLabsGames
@PacoLabsGames Год назад
Hi George, I didn't get an email from you or a response to this video, but in case you still have the problem, I just added an option in Morse-it v10.0.1 that enables some software debouncing. This may allow you to filter out the unwanted keyboard events that are triggered when you press or release the pad. I also added a keyboard event viewer directly in the application, so you can see exactly what events are being received by the OS (and then the application). Please, if you have time, let me know if it works for you or not.

Hi @segrus Can you confirm that your configuration is the same as in the video? - At 2:39 (Iambic paddle is selected) - At 3:12 (ICade is disabled, keyboard is enabled, keyboard has left and right control keys for dash and dot, and up arrow for dot+dash) You say you use your MacBook keyboard, how is it connected to your iPhone/iPad? Since you are using a keyboard directly (and not the VBand adapter), you can try keys other than the left and right control keys (something like the left and right arrows) and see if you have the problem? Also, do you have any custom keyboard extensions on your iPhone/iPad? I have heard that some may be able to change the hardware keyboard inputs. Disabling them might solve the issue.
@segrus
@segrus Год назад
@@PacoLabsGames I've already tried all the settings. The keyboard is built into Macbook, his native. Maybe it doesn't work because I'm using the ipad version of the program on Macbook. Then it would be nice if you could fix this bug. I just press any key and release it, but the program continues to dots indefinitely, as if I were holding a button all the time.
@PacoLabsGames
@PacoLabsGames Год назад
@@segrus So do you confirm that the iCade setting is disabled, and that even if you set the "Left Arrow" key instead of the "Left Control" key, and you press the Left Arrow key on your keyboard, you still have the problem? I'm sorry for these precise questions, but I don't have an M1 Mac to test this feature from Apple that allows to run iPad apps on the Mac. The Morse-it app is really made for iPad/iPhone. Apple's feature to run iPad apps on Mac might have bugs, and I suppose there are no bugs I can fix in Morse-it, since the keyboard is recognized correctly on the real iPad device. The fact that I insist on the " Left Control " key thing is that on the Mac, the Left Control key is heavily used by the system, for example, if you press the Left Control key and then press the up arrow, the OS window picker will be displayed. This might interfere with the app also using the same key. I'll try to find a M1 Mac to test the application.
@segrus
@segrus Год назад
@@PacoLabsGames I shot you a video. I hope it helps. I've already tried all the settings, connected the external keyboard, made a program in Arduino, everything is useless. Repeating key press in the MacOS settings is also disabled. It's inside the program that happens. Link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nKNGrgzrwpY.html I will be very glad if you fix it. The rest of the features work perfectly and you can safely advertise your Macbook program too. What's your counterpoise and other antenna setup looking like?
@NexxuSix
@NexxuSix Год назад
The antenna is nothing more than a stock whip antenna that came with the radio. I use only one of the wire reels from the stock counterpoise kit as well. The stock counterpoise is a four reel set, with a center tap that I would normally use with the mast antenna. However, the single counterpoise is attached to the ground lug of the radio, and flung out into the yard about 20 feet or so.

Nice videos, cool to see your progress. I am also building a hexapod on Raspberry Pi (it looks like that's what you have also?). What steps did you take take to get started using Py4bot? Did you install the package onto the RPi or do you do the coding from the desktop?
@NexxuSix
@NexxuSix 3 года назад
The program is made by a guy across the pond. He had a basic version working, but no plans to finish it. So, when I discovered Py4bot some time ago, I worked with the programmer to write a version that would work with the hexapod frame. The version you see in this video is about 90% complete, and does work, but the kinetics still need a bit of fine tuning.
