Might be as a layer to another thing, could be just 1 section of it as a fast little hit. Or like a pre-snare fill would be what comes to mind for this one. Definitely agree that it is unorthodox.
you mentioned OTT and expensive OTT, do you have paid reaktor? a while back i made an ens which, rather than the compressors in OTT, uses a technique which makes for a constant output level when averaged over some time period. that ens has 3 bands of that followed by another single band, and some other processing. if you want it and you’re on surge or TAP or edmp or rust audio or reaktor discord lemme know and i will happily share it, it definitely has a unique sound. someday i should go thru my various reaktor files and put the good ones up on my itch page for easier sharing.
The best way ive found is to take single cycles from samples. I drag 4 separate waves into the ocs make sure they are sorted in way that makes sense in terms of phase. Then morph them using spectral morph.
This is very good. Your explanation of spectral sound design is very elaborate and interesting. I’ve been working with spectral waveforms since I was in college and I love that people are starting to elaborate on them!
that was beautiful. and yeah i agree the center values of spectral gate's 2nd parameter are kinda useless, but it's cool that the parameter can make it more noisy or tonal on the sides
I think you should have had a different sound selection, and also filled some of those transition silences with modulated impacts or risers to really build the tension. It's not bad the way it is, this is just some constructive criticism. Thanks for the breakdown!
amazing tutorial, i hope this isnt like a redundant question or anything; but i hope you can get more into the dariacore tracks! specifically the starting instrumentals from dariacore 3. They all have this ai-seperated/granulated sound i cant seem to replicate (examples: i hate when BOYS lie, snatch the cat back, damn! we got it bad; wait till you see what happens next, & fuckkk we were supposed to wear argyle). If you have any idea how to replicate sounds like this please make a tutorial!!
There's a plug-in called digitalis that has a module that does this. Or there's a free plug-in called maim. Also spectral gate from the free plug-in bundle called spectral suite. Try using one of those along with heavy compression pre and post the effect.
@@SlimeCinema Oh i see! I have digitalis, but i cant seem to find the thing youre talking about here. Is there any specific tutorial or anything for learning how to use it? Its a really good plugin, but i cant figure out how anything works and i mainly use the presets 😭
i just tried spectral gate actually and it did give me a similar effect, i just wish there was more specific things i could do with it like in digitalis
It's the telecommunications module in digitalis. Try heavy compression pre and post digitalis along with filter sweeps to get the specific tone that matches the tracks you're referencing.
