I remember this game and exactly where I was when I watched it. Big sixer fan back then bc of Julius, my favorite all time player. Too bad they lost against NJ. No repeat for doc. Just a little piece of my childhood.
I used to look forward to Sixers games on TV, just for the announcer. I always got chills when he introduced, "From the University of Massachusetts, number 6, Julius Errrrrvinng." When he finished the intro, I would Lose it. Loved my Sixers. Seeing this brought back memories, Especially seeing Andrew Toney. Back before he started college he used to shoot ball in the neighborhood park in Birmingham, Alabama. He used to attend the old Glenn High School, which no longer exists. He used to be unguardable because he could shoot from anywhere, kinda like how Steph Curry does now. Loved watching him play because he Hated the Celtics, which is when he had some of his best games. That was the reason that they used to call him, "The Boston Strangler." 😅
Home PA announcers say Kyrie Irving’s last name the same way as Dr. J & I hate that shut every time I hear it. Supposed to be reserved for the Doc OnLY
I was fortunate enough to experience Flyers and sixers playoff games in the Spectrum a place that held around 21,000 that sounded more like 61,000. Legendary....
I would tape games and just get elated and chills if the broadcast would include zinckoffs intros usually on cable they were included on WOR when cable and VHS tape was starting out --- it was such a highlight collecting Zinks introductions !!! 🌟🌟🌟 Errrrrrvingg !! 🌟🌟🌟
When I first heard him announce like that back in the day I was like, “Why’s he talking like that?” He’d scream and suddenly go to his inside voice. Talking fast and then drawing out his words. Then I realized that was his style. I hated when I was watching on TV and couldn’t hear his announcements. A unique part of league history. RIP, Zink.
NBA was the best in 70s and eighties....incredible personalities, Coaches and legendary P A announcers like Philly and the knicks The Spectrum#Memories Bill Buckhead Ga
Celtics fan here. This guy was the best PA announcer hands down. Julius Errrrrrrr-ving! I got to hear him a lot during the playoffs as a kid...and the Spectrum was a fantastic venue.
