We are about 3500hp 417 cu in hemi heritage legal top fuel. No computer controlled systems timing locked fuel set boost as much as we can get at 50% od high gear only centrifugal clutch on a 14" wide spec tire that's only about 10" wide at speed. That run was a little over 10,000 rpm shut off on pan pressure. Ie piston wasn't happy.
I READ ABOUT URBAN LEGEND IN MY OLD DRAG RACER MAGAZINES THHS WAS THE CAR AS RACED and thiswas a really good car thats was raced by the ward family of Hanford in CA thiswas te case i knew that car really well
Thanks to this video we were actually able to determine what happened with my car in the left lane. I thought the engine blew up, turns out that the parachutes came out at the 1/8th mile transition, that would explain why it felt like landing a jet on an aircraft carrier with the deceleration. Yes I manually deployed their chutes, but they were already blossomed. I still can't answer the transmission issue in out the final pass but it's coming out today
They are in the spectator stands on the left side of the video. They aren't in the video from where I sit in the tower seats. If you go back a couple of years you can how many there are when I did some video from the pit side stands.
Pretty lame run. I've seen so so so many of these nostalgia "fuel" cars run. Just enough nitro to make them cackle . Basically top alky FCs . Yes I know, full load of nitro is hard on parts and hugely expensive ☹️☹️
