And that, sir, is how the steering column got up there. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to find a pair of ice tongs and a friend who can keep a secret.

1 And when he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him: Master, look at the stones and the buildings! 2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another that will not be torn down. 3 And as he sat on the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John and Andrew asked him privately: 4 Tell us, when will these things be, and what sign will there be when they are all about to be fulfilled. 5 And Jesus answering them began to say: See that no one deceives you; 6 For many will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and will deceive many. 7 And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; because so it must happen; but it won't be the end yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in different places, and there will be famines and tribulations. These things are the principles of pains. 9 But take heed to yourselves, for they will hand you over to councils and synagogues; and you will be scourged, and you will be presented before presidents and kings, for my sake, as a testimony to them. 10 But it is important that the gospel first be preached among all nations. 11 Therefore when they lead you away and hand you over, do not be anxious beforehand about what you are going to say, nor premeditate; but whatever is given you in that hour, speak that, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. 12 And brother will deliver brother to death, and a father his son; and children will rise up against their parents and put them to death. 13 And you will be hated by everyone for my name's sake; But whoever endures to the end will be saved. 14 Now when you see the abomination of desolation, which was foretold by Daniel the prophet, standing where it should not be (let him who reads it understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 And he that is on the roof must not go down into the house, nor go in to take anything from his house; 16 And let him who is in the field not turn back to take his clothes. 17 But woe to those who are pregnant, and to those who give birth in those days! 18 Pray therefore that your flight may not take place in winter. 19 For in those days there will be distress such as has not been since the beginning of the creation, which God created, until now, nor will ever be. 20 And if the Lord had not shortened those days, no flesh would have been saved; but, for the sake of the elect he chose, he shortened those days. 21 And then, if anyone says to you, Behold the Christ; or: Here he is; do not believe. 22 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 23 But you see; behold, I have told you everything beforehand. 24 Now in those days, after that affliction, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light. 25 And the stars will fall from the sky, and the forces that are in the heavens will be shaken. 26 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels, and gather his chosen ones from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of heaven. 28 Therefore, learn the parable of the fig tree: When its branch becomes tender and puts out leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near, at the door. 30 Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things happen. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 32 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels who are in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father. 33 Look, watch and pray; because you do not know when the time will come. 34 It is as if a man, going out of the land, left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and commanded the gatekeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house will come; whether in the afternoon, whether at midnight, whether at the rooster's crow, whether in the morning, 36 Lest he come unexpectedly and find you sleeping. 37 And the things that I say to you, I say to everyone: Watch.
