Hey! Thanks for checking out my channel. I am here to encourage homeschooling mamas in their ability to homeschool and homeschool well. Although we have had our ups and downs (and homeschooling has not always been easy) it is so sweet to look back and see the beauty that has unfolded in our lives since we began back in 2018. I am just a regular mom who wants what's best for my kids. My channel serves as a place to connect with other moms, a place to take a more in-depth look at our current and past resources, and as a memory bank for me to look back on. I am so glad you are here!

I have always wanted to try heart of Dakota. It looks gentle enough for our family but also more rigorous than some others of looked into. I probably missed it in the video, but what is your plan for science for the 8th grade year… Thanks for sharing your picks. 😊
I am still debating on what to use. HOD uses PAC Integrated Physics & Chemistry for 9th grade. I am considering the PAC Natural Science Mysteries to help with the transition since we are skipping a guide. Most likely, we will use the science as written in HOD and figure out the rest when we get there.
I was surprised to see you say you were going back! Both of my kids are the same ages as yours. My younger is starting Bigger next year; it is our first year with HOD. I am so excited. We chose mostly animal readers from the HOD packs.
I couldn't bring myself to switch! HOD has brought so many rich conversations and opportunities to enjoy learning together into our home. I have to remind myself that I can make the adjustments we need without jumping ship!
I read Rabbit Hill to my kids a couple years ago and we loved it - definitely one of our favorites! We also read Stuart Little over the summer - not our favorite E.B. White book but we did enjoy it quite a bit 😊
THANK YOU!!!!! For taking the time and patience to show us these books! Truly helpful! They look very well organized and structured in teaching the fables! I have been reading all the fables and these books are a great way to study them at a deeper level. This is my first time on your channel. Best wishes to all!
Heart of Dakota actually uses writing and rhetoric starting in a later guide. I have an older son finishing Bigger Hearts this coming fall and I was thinking of starting him in Writing and Rhetoric early since he's definitely on the older end for this guide.
Thanks! We love HOD. I think I just got sucked into looking at all the shiny new curriculum. I am much more at peace now that we are using HOD again. We are really enjoying W&R. :)
I honestly have not made a final decision yet. She is working to finish the rest of the guide (we just started our school year a couple weeks ago) She did start a new writing& literature program. I am actually leaning towards the next level of HOD :)
This is from Everyday Education. It is the first book in the Excellence in Literature set. I will add the website link and a link to a sample to my description.
I'd love to see a follow up in a few months to review how it's going. Did your student have a lot of composition practice before this program? My concern is that it may focus more on the literary analysis than the academic writing, but maybe that's not the case?
I will be sure to do a follow-up. She hasn't had a ton of formal writing. My first impression is that it is pretty balanced. I am hoping this course helps to familiarize her with different writing formats and some classic books/authors. :)
My oldest is just gonna be in 3rd grade this year, but I love seeing curriculum and resources to add to my lists for later down the road 🤗 looks like a great curriculum!
