Used to see British Airways fleet on a daily basis landing at London-Heathrow, departure was around 10.15 am and return at 5.15 pm. Sadly, this is no more, and we are worse off for it.
a big deal was made of concorde landing in a america, not because of the noise, no, because it was and still is far superior to ANYTHING that the yanks could ever build, that's the reason why those b52's are upgraded, because they don't know how to build new ones, you see now that we've paid off our ww2 debt you can't hold us to ransom anymore and if it was up to me i'd give you war-mongers 24 hours to get your s**t out of our country and then it's confiscated.
I come from the future in the year 2024 and there is still no supersonic plane equal to or better, as it was Concord. And I'm sure you won't believe me, greetings.-
‘City officials…tried to stop the arrival [of Concorde]’ - those city officials are likely now dead, having achieved nothing of note in their entire lives and remembered by nobody. Meanwhile, Concorde continues to be marvelled at, talked about in reverential tones and remembered fondly.
Wow, this happened on my birthday, although this happened 15 years before I was born. Still, Concorde is the most beautiful and iconic plane in aviation history, and the 20th century.
The reasons the reporter In this news footage gave of why the concord had to stop flying varifies all the things I learned about in watching various documentaries & videos explaining why many people didn't like it anymore.
Americans are strange people. This video is 12 years old and there have only been 25k views and 42 comments. If this was an American SST there would be 25 million views and 25 million comments. There is nothing wrong in being patriotic but take a hard look at yourselves, Guys.
I love this. I was there covering this for WICH-AM in Norwich, CT. This brings back great memories of that day. Also got to go on the plane for a look.
Commenting 4/20/23 at 5am....Interesting to know that this amazing event here was smack right on the very 100th anniversary to the day of the Great San Francisco Earthquake..from 4/18/1906..... and amazing that over 500,000 spectators all came to view the amazing event..((another Jamestown Bridge blowup was on 5/18/06, BTw..))...and 3 days before the 4/18/06-bridge blowup..we had one heck of an early-season 4/15/06-Tstorm here in southern RI with tons of lightning...and thunder.......videotaped it and it is on my RU-vid channel....Can't believe it has been 17 years ago already...yikes.s...time flies~~~!!!
I was honored to be a passenger on the flight from T.F. Green (PVD) to JFK that day. It was a highlight of my travel agent career so many years ago. So happy channel 10 captured it . Such a wonderful memory.
The start of the video tells the story of being too high an approach unless ur about to do some nifty slipping with flaps! Flown into BID many times and have seen a couple of planes roll off the west end of runway.
T.F.(Theodore Francis) Green Airport, now Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport is in the city of Warwick, Rhode Island, 10 miles south of Providence, RI. USA.
