Hello, I got a English teaching job at a university in China. I was told my apartment will have Wifi that is available to whole university, as opposed to some individual internet service I suppose. So are you saying that using this Wifi I won't be able to truly use Lets VPN or others? How do people usually get over that problem then?

i try to follow your suggestion of having the Tour card, but after follow the instruction of submitting the picture of my passport and my photo . i don't hear from bank of Shanghai whether the submission is successful or not , to my surprise , the SMS send for verification of the code with the calling number started with +7 XXXXXXXXXXX , so i went to check which country code is +7 , it is from Ruassia ... Therefore, i am quite concern whether is it correct ? could you advise me as i am going to China next month and i want to set up this Tour Card
I came across a very useful FREE VPN - but it's only for Android, and it's called RiseUp VPN. The symbol is a blue shield with a black crow in from of it. It works very well on my Chinese Unicom phone. It's not perfect, so I still have ExpressVPN, but I also have a lot of free/cheap ones in my back pocket just in case. As you can see, I'm watching and commenting on RU-vid, so being able to climb 🪜 over the FireWall is important to me.
Today I tried serveral time to activate my tourcard: sms verification, passport, photo, tax no, adress and so on. But in the end I got the message that my card is not successfully activated. What did I do wrong?
I can't get going with WeChat because it keeps sending me to a verification QR code that needs to be scammed for approval by another WeChat user (I'm in the UK so I've mever met anyone who uses WeChat!) so I've had to opt for AliPay and hope it works!
