Just have ordered DRM1 mk3 from thomann was shipped yesterday. Also decided to grab a Mode Machines ADX-1 while they had an affordable one. One of this DRM’s designers also designed the ADX, and I like every demo out there. Now if I could get as excited about my acoustic gear, I’d die from excitement!! Excellent piece, you have me anxiously awaiting my rows of knobs!! Thanks for sharing!
The patch (131) at 11:35 sounds eerily like one that I had programmed on my Matrix 6. Very Nice! Sonically, the OB6 sounds more dynamic compared to the Matrix 6 (I realize that the OB6 is modeled after SEM circuits found on other OB series instruments, but there is still a noticeable similarity in character to the Matrix 6)--like a wider, deeper, funkier, and crunchier version of of the Matrix 6. But that said, you can get a lot out of a Matrix 6, believe it or not. :)
This sounds great. I stupidly bought a TR8 and after watching this I want to throw it of a bridge. This is a cool piece of kit. TR8 is functional but sounds shit and if we don't do this for sound what do we do this for>? Sorry rant over. Wud love to see some more stuf on your lovely piece of kit
TR8 is not crisp or punchy enough. (Very noticeable listening to the clap) It sounds exactly like a recording of an 808/909. Something has been lost in translation.
In my opinion I don't think that the TR8 sounds like shit. Its a very good piece of gear, its quite versatile and the option to record the individual tracks via usb is just amazing. In addition, I don't think that when performing a techno track in a club anyone would go like: eew, clap doesn't sound like the claps I listened to in the 90s when people used the real deal ;-)
what he meant, is that the rough 808 & 909 actually sound like shit without further post-processing and have been overhyped by mass consumer ideology. Indeed, the DRM1 goes far beyond those old, bare, rather weak drum machines.
The sound at 9:15 is otherworldly. And I like the way your camera is adding compression! Do you find you can get weird sounds out of the OB6 or is it more of a sweet pad-and-lead machine?
Ken Flagg this and the prophet 6 are certainly geared towards bread and butter, but if you know your modulations and the poly mod section you can certainly get into "weird" territory! I've made lots of modular sounding patches on both
Terrific demo. I love the sound of the Vermona. Too bad it needs an external sequencer. I wonder if the Arturia Beatstep Pro would be good to trigger this thing.
See this demo if you like that sound: OB6 live looping (not me) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bdnh0C3UpRQ.html. I don't own an OB6 but I am just starting to wonder: is this the only mega sound the synth has - and it has buckets of effects. There are other demos with other gorgeous sounds though. I was going to buy an OB-6 but I already have a Prophet-6 and am loving it, with effects usage minimal. A lot of the P6 presets are not great - but it is easy to make many great sounds yourself
Nice jam mate, I recently used my DRM1 (and had a little jam) to test out some camera angles. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6bM4sSiu3w0.html
