God is so good. He brought it to my remembrance the name of the church and former Minister Johnson now Bishop Johnson. This church me and my son, Julian got baptized a little over 30 years ago....June 30, 1988. Julian got baptized at age 9 in November 1991
Please note.....The instrument that Jesus died on was just that, a torture instrument, and all the evidence points to the fact that Jesus did not doe on a cross but rather a "upright pole of stake" ! An important reason is that Jesus Christ did not die on a cross. The Greek word generally translated “cross” is stau·ros′. It basically means “an upright pale or stake.” The Companion Bible points out: “[Stau·ros′] never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle . . . There is nothing in the Greek of the [New Testament] even to imply two pieces of timber.” In several texts, Bible writers use another word for the instrument of Jesus’ death. It is the Greek word xy′lon. (Acts 5:30; 10:39; 13:29; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24) This word simply means “timber” or “a stick, club, or tree.” The most convincing proof of all, however, comes from God’s Word. The apostle Paul says: “Christ by purchase released us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse instead of us, because it is written: ‘Accursed is every man hanged upon a stake [“a tree,” King James Version].’” (Galatians 3:13) Here Paul quotes Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, which clearly refers to a stake, not a cross. Since such a means of execution made the person “a curse,” it would not be proper for Christians to decorate their homes with images of Christ impaled. So if there was a chance that this is true it means that people are putting Jesus onto a pagan symbol!
Humpty Dumpty in the Church I have a message to the children of men. I hardly know just where to begin! To raise your chin is a terrible mistake, So condescend to men of low estate. Come on down, high heads out of that loft; For we are all on the ground, eating out of the same trough. So if this message is a thorn in your side, It’s also a rule that’s measuring your pride. Only Jesus Christ is standing above, We should spend more time sharing our love I’ll carry your bags anytime. What worries me is; are you willing to carry mine? Come on down, you are standing too tall. What happened to Humpty Dumpty that sat on the wall? Sometimes we feel the men that bear rule, Should come on down and go back to school. No! Not the school, that teaches the modern way, But let’s go back to Apostle Paul’s day. A man that looked and saw it all, That the wisdom of men was sure to fall. He counted all lost and was beaten thrice, But he accepted the challenge that he might win Christ. Titles and degrees have puffed men up, And they are teaching not to drink that bitter cup. God has turned backward the wisdom of man, that teaches you to do the best you can. When you do teach, you stumble the weak. The strong are not moved, they see your vision is bleak. We need our masters in faith to be fully equipped. We fear that most of our teachers have already jumped ship! We can’t save the class of today, When we stop believing and go the other way. So let us come on down and turn around, So we can go up together at the trumpet sound! Acts 2:36-40 KJV
Why We Must Be Born Again The Way Back To Pentecost When Jesus told Nicodemus, except a man or person be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. St. John 3:5, he was telling him who needed to do it. Now, watch it. Matthew told what to do, Mark told why to do it, Luke told where to do it and John told who to do it. What’s missing? Didn’t nobody tell how to do it, until the great day called Pentecost when Peter stood up to preach. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 KJV What to do? - repent and be baptized. Who? - everyone of you. How do we do it? - in the name of Jesus Christ. Why do it? for the remission of sins. What’s the result of doing it? - and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Jews did it. Look at the 8th Chapter of Acts, verse 4, “Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the Word.” Verse 5 “Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.” Verse 12, “But when they believed Phillip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” 14. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15. Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16. (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Acts 8:14-16. In Acts 2, the Jews did it. In Acts 8, the half Jews did it. In Acts 10, the Gentiles did it and in Acts 19, the Baptist folks did it. They all did it because God said that’s the only way to do it. Of the 66 books in the entire Bible, there’s only one that don’t fit in with any of the groups. That book is the book of Acts, because the book of Acts is the only book in the Bible that tells you how to get save. And, until Jesus Christ returns in the clouds to call his church away “1st Peter 2:9-10,” this gospel is to be preached by us to every nation and is still in force today till that great getting up morning when the dead in Christ shall rise first, we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air, so shall we ever be with the lover of our souls. Will you be saved today, according to the Holy Scriptures? Acts 2:38 KJV is still in force today till God’s body, “the Bride of Christ is completed.”
The Death Express When The Death Express rolls up to your door, the things that you’re doing, right or wrong you can’t do anymore! Life on earth is short at its best, for we all are facing the acid test. So when writing the poem (of life) make it rhyme, and it must be written on the shores of time. We must write it by faith, though we all like to see. But we can’t write this poem in eternity, so don’t sit on your seat until you hear the beep, get up and start now, awake out of your sleep! What am I sending on the other side? Before The Death Express comes (those wheels) to give us our ride? So get busy, do good, and get involved. And when The Death Express comes, your problems will be solved. Slow down; slow down, so that you may learn, don’t run ahead of our leader, you don’t know where to turn. Learn how to give, how to bear, how to share, Learn how to do good to men everywhere. Now you can watch for the signs as we go. Stay under the blood of Jesus, that washes white as snow. . When The Death Express rolls up to give you your first ride, who is your escort, with a heart full of pride? Too proud to listen, too stubborn to hear, But Wait! Those wheels, those dreadful wheels are rolling near. There’s an escort for every one and who will yours be? I want Jesus in the Holy Ghost to escort me! Speaking of space, there’s room to spare, for this train picks up men everywhere. It transport the rich and it transports the poor. It drops off one generation and returns for more. Those wheels, those dreadful wheels, those death wheels. Let’s face the facts now, and turn around. For why would you let sin forever hold you down? Repent, quit, be baptized in Jesus Name for remission of sins, receive the Holy Ghost and He will escort you in!
SALVATION OBTAINED All that Jesus did for mankind at Calvary is summed up in a statement by Jesus Himself after His resurrection; “Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day; and that REPENTANCE and REMISSION of sins should be preached in HIS NAME among ALL NATIONS (not just Jews), beginning at Jerusalem” (Luke 24:46, 47). Note that Calvary made possible a “universal plan of salvation” for the NATIONS (Gentiles); that repentance and remission of sins was to be preached in HIS (Jesus) NAME; that it was to have its beginning at Jerusalem. Let us go to it’s “ starting point” (beginning at Jerusalem) and see how “salvation was obtained”. At Pentecost, after Peter’s stinging indictment, accusing the nation of Israel of the crucifixion of Christ (Acts 2:22-24) he was asked by those who where guilty, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said unto them, “Repent acnd be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost”. (Acts 2:37, 38). The response of Peter, by the power of the Holy Ghost to the Jews first, is still in force this day, till the TRUMP of God sounds to call his beloved “1st Peter 2:9-10” up, to meet the Lord in the air.
