Around here, we’re doing it Island Style… Positive, hopeful, and uplifting songs and stories from my island to yours.
I was born in Barbados and immigrated to the US when I was only three years old. As the years passed by, I realized I had given up on the world - and myself. Then I met a handful of people that showed me there is goodness out there.
Bob Marley said: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain."
It is my duty to hit you with music, deep in your soul. I aim to purposefully find the good and make it known, so that people who feel empty or dead on the inside can learn what I have: there is always hope - start with music.
From the sounds of Iam Tongi (Hawaii) and Morissette (Philippines), this channel is dedicated to discovering and sharing the music and artistry of my island bredren from all over the world.
I am going to give you a POV from a Pakeha, bro, racism works both ways! I had Maori friends, good friends, when I was at school & they were forbidden to stay with me being a Pakeha family. Most of that went by the by as I grew older thank goodness, and I had a few Maori boyfriends over the years, & back then I NEVER referred them as that, they were just a boyfriend, no labels!! I am, however, sympathetic to the plight of The Treaty of Waitangi and I believe it will always be a contentious point of difference that will last for generations to come and will never be resolved.
I saw that video, and Richard Goodall gave an excellent performance. I watch his video every single day. There is something about his story and his singing that melts my heart. There is so much hate in the world now. People like him give me hope that we will all love one another one day. And the comment below about listening to Susan Boyle-she is another Richard Goodall. I wish Richard Goodall all the best as he pursues his new music career. ☮🤟❤
I left New Zealand for 15 years and lived & worked in Australia, then, I made the decision to leave Aussie and return home to be with my family here in NZ. I'm super proud of where I come from & I will never leave again, I took for granted what NZ had to offer me so to come home was the best decision of my life! Everyone in Aussie said to me the same thing, why do you want to go back to NZ but I'm sure glad I did. YOU ARE THE MAKER OF YOUR OWN DESTINY BRO, DONT'T EVER FORGET THAT!!
This is part of growing up here in New Zealand, I've spent many an hour going to sing-a-longs with friends, so much fun, it's in the Maori DNA the musicality! I know how much you love all things NZ, seriously bro, why not take some out from the grind in USA and come to NZ and I will personally show you the real NZ and the odd rugby game too, depending on the time of the year, hey you might be lucky to meet Stan in person! I have been a part of your reactions long enough now to know that you would be welcome with open arms here in NZ. Think about it, the offer is real!!
Thank you for reminding me of this Viking song. So powerful. It needs a voice like Dan's to sing it correctly. I know you are new and wanted to shhare with you that Dan produces allnof his videos in his basement and always has. He does all of the singing unless he features another artist with him. He also does all of the musical arrangements. He started from nothing and truly is a self-made man.Another great and interesting reaction. 🙂👍
First-time experience on your channel!! The more you learn about Dan, the better you will like him, as an artist and a person. In his earlier videos, he often does chats to thank his fans and discuss different viewpoints has. Amazing Grace was my first exposure to his Amazing voice also. It completely stunned me ad I have spent so much time listening to as many videos as I could and listening to man different reactions to his music. You have a very engaging personality and a pleasant speaking voice. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Dan Vasc !! I highly recommend his Bring Me To Life and his Bohemian Rhapsody for your listening pleasure. I will be checking back with you and I wish you much success .☺🤘🎸🎶
I am Pakeha and as a child most my teachers were Maori and I can remember doing this sort of thing. In those days there were Maori District High Schools and Te Reo was taught from Form 3 onwards so my elder sister speaks Te Reo unfortunately by the time as I am 5 years younger The Education Department had changed our school to just a District High and the curriculum also changed. Great pity in my view.
One love my brajah. I just got out of jail. Unfortunately i learn more and more of my culture everytime i go in cause the powers that be understand that us that reconnect with our culture give up the gangsta life and chase our roots. Which leads us down a better path. But for the last 3 days that i been out i have been finding free wifi just to watch you. When i get paid im joining. You make me proud of being maori. Uncle bob inspires us all. Tame iti inspires us all. You inspire me at there level. Thankyou for your heart. There are to many comments to read. But i get the feels we want to adopt you. When we say come and we got you, if you come you will want for nothing. No hotels no need to go to souvenir shops. We got you. That the maori way. I could go on and on but i wont. I never comment so if u read this gizz a thumbs up just so i know u read. If not that cool to i tryed reading them all to. To many aye
I love Stan too and have been affected by his honor to not only his culture But to his faith in God more sooo! His voice is from God and I could listen to him All day. 😊
Awww! How gawjus. Thanks for sharing this, Errol. This brings back memories. To think, our govt tried to ban Maori from practicing their own tikanga, (cultral practices). But if you know Maori and Ii can see you do. Then you know, they never give up, or, give in.🙏😍☝️💯
Hi Errol.. Luvn yr reactions bro. Keep expectring you to poop up in NZ, hint, hint. Have you listened to Stans song to his wahine (girlfrend), she was a model and he was touring. Thankfully, she came home and married him.🙏😍☝️
You gotta give it to the Maori people, they sure are proud of their culture and heritage. Check out the Maori Battalion in WW11, that's a real proud and brave nation.
I cant believe you were watching this! This is our kids primary regional festival to qualify for nationals next year. Rangitaiki as we say it, a few of my nieces and nephews are in this team 😍 My kids perform tomorrow 😊😊
Let me tell you, I was born and raised in the maori culture ( in part thanks to the silent resistance of my great great parents who refused to stop speaking the reo intheir homes) i can tell you i have always been proud to be Māori, whether it was on stage performing like these kiddies, speaking it at school ( as part of the bilingual classes ) or by knowing my place at the marae ( that usually involved a tead towel ). Watching mokopuna ( I swear i am still young ) perform makes me never forget what I am fighting for. The equity of my people to be equal to all.
We live on Kauai and May Day is a very important day. The children practice a hula song to perform on front of the school as a class. It is one of the most endearing things I was blessed to experience in my life.
This kid is going places, great video aswell maybe next reaction a smaller watermark on the video so the viewer could see the video would be better but great video all around 👍
Its lovley to see you mouth the words as the song is playing as your reacting to others reacting to the I AM waiata....thats wairua right there brother!
Chicken skin. I remember them when they came to Maui to play at the Iao Valley restaurant back in like 85. I grew up listening to them. Miss home so much!!
Dude you look like the lead vocalist of this Indian prog rock band called Agam. Btw you should check out their song "Mist of Capricorn"... I think you'd love it!
