I like the #3's... But last year I experimented with some #6's on a family farm where they shoot mostly woodies. Worked great!! Even killed a gadwall close range.
Don’t think spinning wings provide any advantage any more. The one thing they did which helped was remote control. Turn it on to catch the ducks attention then turn it off and get to pulling the jerk string. Motion on the water is better IMO.

Just found your video on calling. Really good explanation for a beginner like me. This is great stuff. We hunted our first duck hunt here in texas on a wide open Playa lake that was public land. There were three sets of duck hunters scattered around the lake and we could hear the other two calling. We had a large body of ducks on the water and from time to time, small groups would circle above. When they are doing that, it appears they are trying to find a place to go/land. Gonna watch/practice to see if I can draw those circling ducks in and pull them our way. Thanks!! Also going to bring my Mojo Dove decoy next time for some flash along the bank.
Can you demonstrate how to get that whine sound? I'm a fairly new caller. I have the quack and the feed chuckle, but I'm having trouble with that whine sound.
We have reed replacement packs on our website. We also offer free retuning for our calls if you want to send them to us. I’ll try and plan that for a future episode. Thanks!
Wow, me n this guy were Brothers. Tearing up listening to him. Lordy, stories galore. He was bit by a cottonmouth, could lift 1000lbs, duck call could be his mouth, hell of a cook and one hell of a Man. ✌ out Brother ❤🙏
That mermer is so damn hard lol. I do something more close to a honkers grunt i guess i would call it and they react yo it great. But honestly if you can hit a good yodel and cluck really good that is all you need in the field to call in specks. There probably the easiest birds to call in
1 of the biggest things is the decoys if you have 3 or 4 groups circle and leave and your hidden then move decoys don't wait till the hunt is half way over because there looking for a place to get down and something is giving them a reason not to. So move them
I love it! Great episode! I had the opportunity to hunt with Trey and his son Charles (9) in the Cache River bottoms 20 some years ago. He was helping Jim Ronquest with RNT guide service at the time. Two complete magicians the way they make ducks come down, pull them from others, and put them on the water. Trey was a huge personality and showman...he made us pull all the decoys in and said he'd call the last duck to him with no decoys and to shoot it when it was above him. We did! :) 10 man limit in about 45 minutes with ZERO hole! Incredible! Charles was only 9 and was in the boat with burlap over him and he had 3 dead before we could even lift our guns! lol What a time!
