Where I work we use safe. The company is much more unagile now than before. If you need help from someone it is common that they say "no you have to talk to my PO. I have to deliver my storys.." There is so much planning and estimating that it slows down work.

I want to hear from you. What topic do you want me to cover next?
Me being a follower of agile mindset of working, the wisdom you share with your videos helps me to think & improve at least one thing about Agile, scrum - every time. Thank you for sharing.
Agile is Dead because of oversaturated Scrum Masters who completed a 2 days course for a cheap certificate thinking they can rule and champion Agile moving forward... that's why Agile is dead.. because 90% of them lacked knowledge or understanding of the true principles of Agile
Agile is dead because most companies who claim to use agile turned it into the opposite. Actually agile gives a lot of control to the developers themselves. This is threatening for the many management layers so they created an infertile hybrid of agile and old-fashioned top down management methods. Dailies, that are meant as a short meeting for developers to help each other, become long status updates; story points which are meant as an aid in planning, become KPI's; subtasks that should be divided by the developers among themselves, get assigned by management;........
Agile was created because Waterfall didn't work at all and as you mentioned, no one ever saw agile work properly either. Despite having expensive agile coaches and scrum masters, I don't hear any of them deep diving into coding standards, collective ownership, continues integration, examining possibilities for refactoring, doing workshops on simple design, TDD, pair programming. These practices have been silenced in the bloody grip of deadlines, and IMHO they are the heartbeat of agile.
Culture eats strategy for breakfast. I hate to hear during an Interview "We are agile! We do Scrum! HIP HIP HOORAY!" 🤮 SAFe is the antichrist of agile. Amen

My friend 🙂 I am overwhelmed and deeply impressed by your words in this video. You have spoken right from my heart and I have recognized all the things you said, because I have experienced the same situations, discussions and even verbal fights as a Scrum Master, Product Owner and Agile coach. I always get the feeling, that companies start with agile without having any knowledge about this, so important, topic. Thanks again and we'll see each other in our community. Looking forward t that! Rob
The value in the esrimation is the process of doing it, especially planning poker that engages developers to have discussion. When the scrum team matures and can stabilize their velocity, there is definitely value in estimations and timelines. No matter how the developer justifies having non-fixed deadline, for business people especially sales & marketing it's important to plan with fixed dates. The easiest example is planning the launch of the product, if you don't have fixed rlaunch date, it will throw the whole businesses off.
Great video and topic. Im learning how software developers dislike estimation because of the way its then used against them when they "miss a deadline"

Been following you for a year now here and also on LinkedIn. Your videos are brilliant to apply on the job but can't use it to any interview. Most companies would espect the scrum master to do more than roles as per the scrum guide
You can use the details in the video for the scrum master or agile coach responsibilities of the jobs. Now if the company requires that you do PO activities also, you can watch my PO related videos.
Eventually you have convert estimates in hour since iteration/ cadence/ sprint has timebound structure so any underlying activity should have time estimates that they rollup to *period*. The real question is how is complexity interpreted by different dev and managed and hence absolute estimation wins every time

You need to please help me understand what you mean by, “Don’t hire a new person with no experience” please. How is anyone supposed to get experience without getting their first chance? And secondly, since when is Scrum Master a management position?? Didn’t you say in this very video that teams are self managing?? Now the scrum master needs to manage them?
Scrum Master is a very responsible position. Therefore should a company hire a junior as an assistant. This is better for the Project and the result and also for the Scrum newbie. In the old version of the Scrum Guide, before the 2020 version, the guide said that the DM is a servant leader. This was a confusing term and many people started to believe, that the Scrum Master was the team's secretary. The Scrum Master is a true leader who supports the team
This applies to most high-level jobs, and there are quite a few ways to gain experience, such as getting promoted internally or taking on the role in a small company. Regarding your second question, self-managing teams within an organization do not eliminate the need for a CEO or top management. There are different styles of management...
Thanks for your responses gentleman and clarification. May I ask, if you had to offer suggestions on how to gain experience in the industry, what you would you suggest? I’m in Cape Town, South Africa.
This is the eternal question of hiring for "supposed" competences... so you want someone to impulse a new mindset, and you hire an "experienced" mind changer. A shame that motivation and mental flexibility is never given the value that it really conveys...

Thanks, I'm cranking down my focus to finally take the PSM1 voucher test that I've had for oh.. 1yr+.... I get test anxiety.. when I listen to your videos, I gain confidence. I agree with your video, it was bad form for them to release their product called by the Scrum 20204 name..

Dear Coach, I love your content. I am a new scrum Master. I followed this video and the one (which is few years old) and I prepared last week passed my PSM I today. I got to say the 1 hour for the 80 question answer does run out very quick! I am willing to follow your suggestion to read the Scrum Guide 2020 2twice everyday for a week, and do mock exams, once I am confident will prepare for PSM II
