Funny thing is in Competitive EDH Stax is Nigh useless as a lot of the times you are just handing the win to someone else by accident as you really need to play the Right Cards in the Right Sequencing and the Right Time otherwise you might as well be throwing, so pretty much you have to know how the game works to play Stax in Competitive EDH. Like it is harder than playing control in competitive since it is a 4 player free for all format. One of my favorite stax combos are Maralen of the Mornsong and Opposition Agent as you shut off their ability to draw and you lock them out from searching while Maralen damages them as you can always say the search fails or if you know their deck exile their win con. But i would say play Opposition Agent first as if they let Maralen resolve they will not let the Agent resolve as if they did they are locked out but now they can use Maralen to win faster whereas if you play the Agent first they are not even going to bother with a counter spell but use removal While there is no universal stax card to put in any Stax deck Karn the Great Creator comes close to it as he shuts down your opponents artifacts activated abilities while you can still use yours meaning a great mana advantage in higher levels of play. Remember no one card fits all when it comes to Stax it is all situational which makes it even harder to do Imagine you are playing against a Phage the Untouchable deck and suddenly you realize "Oh shit i get why she is called untouchable now" as it is a Mono Black Stax. Now normally a Phage deck would have some form of Stax such as a Torpor Orb so you can play her from the command zone as if you play her not from your hand her ETB kills ya so you kinda need to shut ETB's down at times so it's not unusual to see some stax like cards in the deck just to get it to function, but then you notice they cast a Conqueror's Flail meaning you can't cast spells during their turn if they equip it to a creature I swear when a deck is running what seems like nothing but high priority targets to be counter spelled you might wanna ask that person "Is that a Stax Storm Deck?" like you know a mix between both but is more on the Stax side just to get it to work in competitive because the commander is not competitively viable. Turning something into a Stax Deck is one way to make something competitively viable such as for example turning artifacts into lands then using Numot's land destruction ability to destroy the newly made lands, help i think i maybe insane as i am even entertaining the idea of Mono White Door to Nothingness as a competitive deck and of course Kenrith returned king would be the commander as the way color identity works i need the pips, but other than that white has great artifact search enchantment search and artifact recursion
The only reason I kinda don't like proxies is because as soon as I hear that they put proxies in their deck I just know they're running a mana crypt, and depending on color smothering tithes, sheoldrid, demonic tutor, cyclonic rift, ect. At least when someone plays the real card I know that their damage suffered as much damage as I did but obviously I still play against them most of my decks are just at power level 6 so I get stomped.
In 2016 Wizards prints an overpowered legendary permanent with the mana cost one blue one green and one other In 2020 Wizards prints an overpowered legendary permanent with the mana cost one blue one green and one other In 2024 Wizards prints an overpowered legendary permanent with the mana cost one blue one green and one other
When I bought the henzie deck I was super stoked and then I found out he and the riveteers play almost no part in the lore, (they basically say "and the riveteers were there too") That sucked. But finding out how strong he can be and how fun the deck is to play and build, it's one of my favorite decks now.
I proxy, I hate how expensive card board is. But if you enjoy it I'm not gonna say anything. Like yall know how much fishing tackle costs? 90% of my tackle box i don't even use I just get them cuz they look cool. Weedless tube worm will catch pretty much any fish. Edit: I've caught more muskies off tube worms than I have from any of the Over priced tackle specifically made for them just saying. Spend your money on what makes you happy.
Ashling was my first commander and while I still keep the Pilgrim as my monored I think I'll slot the Flame Dancer for sure in another spellslinger deck
I liked your deck tech. One thing that I put in my list is Glinthorn buccaneer and Bralin, and with fury storm we have infinite magecraft bc the copy can target the original and I run 2 shuffle titan I can can draw and discard my deck infinite times and every time I discard Bralin or Buccaneer ping my op for 1
Hey I think you misread/misunderstoof Soulbright Flameskin at 9:00. You need to activate the ability three times in ONE turn, which means you can't separate it over multiple turns. Or did you mean that?
I like tro try to gatherer The card i want to use, but only if it is acessible and viable to buy. But when not i always use proxies. Just always try to keep The table balanced
I never even knew this existed! Thanks, im definitely gonna build it. I wonder if she can top rionya for me. It almost reminds me of a mono red tor wauki. Don't forget to add a favourite of mine: braid of fire. Its perfect here.
Honestly in my pod we just play none of us really care what commander I played up against this one my turns were longer oh well it only took an extra hour
Honestly, I find green and white to be my favorite colors, and I love a sorta tb combo deck I have with yeodra that plans to primal surge out an infinite or just get the infinite outright with repatable card draw
I love this deck, I think it’s a lands deck that I’ve been waiting for, but I wanted to ask you, from your experience how reliant is our commander in order for our game plan to function?
In this deck list: very reliant. But very easy to replay if removed. Once you have a consistent land tutor you can just keep replaying Command Beacon from your yard and avoid commander tax.
The entire point of having a card like that in your deck is that you know you have a way to benefit you more, we know cards like this shouldnt exist because of what happened with the mycosynth combo
