This painting is wonderful. I realised what I love about your art Gary ; like Sargent, your work is a balance of beautiful Impressionism using such quick but sure brush strokes, and all the while the observer knows exactly what he/she is looking at. Learning values and contrast is what I’ve learned over the years, but not this sureness and lightness of brush strokes. You’re an inspiration. As for your sketches, how on earth do you not get confused!!! I would. Thank you very much again.
Dear Gary, I'm back to following your fantastic synthesis in composition and scenes in Watercolor ...the most relevant is the "emotion" of urban space and the use of light. THANK YOU | Alex
As always, absolutely stunning work. Gary, thank you so much for your amazing videos, I have learned so much from them. Now I need to try some of your techniques in my own work. Gary, do you ever visit Scotland for workshop holidays? Thank you.
@@GaryTuckerArtist I will keep my fingers crossed, just let me know if you do. Scotland is a land of rugged beauty, ancient castles, and poetic whispers carried by Highland winds. 🏴✨ And if Scotland could introduce itself, it might say, “Dinnae fash yersel’, laddie! Come explore!” (Translation: “Don’t worry, my friend! Come explore!”) 😊
Your tutorial is exactly what I have been looking for - it does explain this perfect technic and at the same time it inspires me like hell, thank you for that !!
In my humble opinion this is one of the best, has everything - the thinking behind the composition, value painting, play of light, dry painting, colour etc etc etc
That tree is wonderful Gary. I admire how your light, brief strokes give a natural look. Obviously they have to be well- placed too, which is not easy. You’re an excellent teacher aside from being such a good artist. I always take away something from each tutorial. Today connections were important (something we tend to forget) and composition. A photo is not a painting and vice versa. Thank you very much for your patience.
It was nice to see that you had found the boat repair shop. Not on tourist maps. This was a good video and you made an excellent painting that has the feel of the place. I go there in the winter and I am alone painting. There is less action then, too. Just quiet and maybe one worker over there.
Gary, I painted this with you on Zoom in 2020. I had just retired and was a beginner. Watching today reminded me that you have been a big part of my watercolor journey. I love watercolors and thank you for sharing your years of experience. You are a wonderful teacher!
