Hello, I was wondering is it possible to use Vallejo gloss varnish over other acrylics like Mr. Color? I am currently candy coating and I need that super gloss finish. Thank you for the tutorial too!
It seems like u didn't bother to re-scribe all the panel lines? And I will not use tape on that leg piece as the tape will breaks over time and you can't get into it as the legs parts are already glued.
@@TonyMicilotta Ya, I'd assumed so cuz G-System resin is not that good. I've got the GSB version and the quality is day and Night compare with G-System 🙂
This is not a snap kit, the neck you need to think a way to attach it eg. brass rod...None of the parts will be snap fit mostly such as the back of the piece you're mentioning, you need to think of a way to either modify the part to fit or modify the back of the torso to fit. You need to use pin, rods, even magnet for resin kits this is what resin kit is all about...
It used to be called Future Floor Polish or Klear depending on the region I believe. As stated on the bottle in the video, it’s now branded as Pledge Multi-surface Wax. Note that it does not offer UV protection like top coats created specifically for model making.
Different brands will having various thinning recommendations, especially if you’re comparing an acrylic to say a lacquer like Mr Color GX which is 1 part varnish to 1.5 parts thinner. 4 Parts thinner to 1 part varnish seems extremely thin. I recommend starting at 1:1 and then adding more thinner if required.
Very helpful, thank you! I’m still deciding between gloss, satin, or matte so I’m watching as many videos as I can to help. Appreciate your insight and tips.
I think the medium you are using hardeb«ns to fast an there is not enough time to release the air. Maybe trying something more fluid and with more a longer curing time would do the job.
Not really no; they bolts have somehow been tightened into recesses; I needed to remove one part of the leg to clean the metal pistons and it was a little destructive
Anybody else wonder why he was putting varnish on dick shaped models? XD awesome tutorial! I was scared to use the airbrush with the varnishes but this helped!
I've added a link to this tutorial in my article about miniature varnishing - alkony.enerla.net/english/the-nexus/miniatures-nexus/miniature-hobby/miniatures-how-to-use-varnish-on-miniatures-miniature-hobby-guide
If you scratch the liquitex hard enough with your fingernail - before and after adding the permaseal - will the paint scrape off? I’m having trouble with this issue when I put liquitex on my resin statues.
Philip Burkart yes it’s an acrylic paint so it’s not very tough. If you’re going to be handling your models something like Mr Color GX lacquer paint will be good but you’ll need to take extra precautions due to toxicity.
schrama007 yeah this is an amazing kit and a good challenge! Unfortunately I dont have the box anymore but in my 2nd vid I compare this box to a Perfect Grade box ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X31SOB0UGO0.html
@Chris McRoyi used it direct from the airspray can ,but need to do some test before because i bough recently some Decoart triple gloss and inside can some part of the varnish have dry and make a bad results ,maybe product aging bad in shop storage...need some test before using it ! I have not use in bottle this product, sorry .
Thanks for showing this. It looks pretty real to me. I'm not familiar with airbrush so I'm going to have to find some acrylic that I can simply brush on. Thanks.
My gosh that looks good. Are these paints you're using good to use on a 1/6 scale plastic body like a Hottoys figure? I'm having to paint the neck of a body where the headsculpt scuffed it up real bad. Whoever owned it before me was kinda rough with it I guess. If you have a suggestion on what kind of paint I can use I just need to do the skin color on the neck. Thank you. I appreciate any help at all. Your figure there looks awesome man.
Kevin Douglas Thank you! Yes these paints are good for any model IMO. I have a vid on skin painting that I think you should find useful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EFOWMEOijJc.html . Links to products can be found in the video descriptions.
I am planning on using it in many thin coats with very light fine sanding between coats to put a finish on dye'd wood guitar body, Have i bought the correct type of varnish? Anyone have any advice? Im pretty good at the woodworking but iv never done any finishing vith clear gloss.
Chris Bradley Hi Chris, acrylic varnish is water based while a polyurethane varnish can be oil based. Since you’re varnishing a guitar that I assume will be played, have you considered using a lacquer?
I know it's been awhile since you posted this video but I have a question for you...I just recieved my G-system kshatriya and cant figure out how to unscrew the screws for disassembly...any ideas??
The Bull Unfortunately, I was never able to unscrew. For the joints that needed tightening, I ended up scraping out a bit of plastic around one end so that I could use needle pliers... surprisingly odd design
H ALI Crafts sadly it goes sticky and it doesn’t really work. I’ve tried it on mh faceups before but it’s really really bad. Beside msc, I use liquitex Matte medium or Vallejo premium colour matte varnish. But both use with airbrush. With liquitex matte medium I’ll have to thin it down to use with airbrush. :)
Johnhae P it depends on the weather, but 20minutes between each of the above is usually fine if you do thin coats. I then let it rest for a day so that it can cure before applying a gloss coat.
