Even though I'm not an endocrinologist myself, I will tell you, I do suffer from obesity myself, and, it has been a struggle since I was 4 or 5 years old, as a result of a rare form of obesity, known as Hypothalamic Obesity. If you have heard about Hypothalamic Obesity, you might have heard about people acquiring it from having a tumor removed from their hypothalamus. In my case, that the hypothalamus is ectopic, that which means, to put it in plain language, that the hypothalamus is just in an abnormal position in the brain. In other words, it's just off all by itself somewhere like a deserted or remote island.

Being a normocalcemic HPT person with osteoporosis in wrist and kidney stones, I don't agree with the doctor who said the calcium levels are what defines symptoms. My calcium has never been above 9.4 with PTH from 148 to just over 200 day of exploration surgery that removed 3 hyperplasia glands. I am thankful to my new urologist who checked calcium and PTH after a large stone finding my PHPT.
