Ross that was an excellent informative training video on extracting out of the Yak-18T. Kept it in layman's terms so even silly guys like me understand it I hope I never have to extract you.
I hope other performers with monoplanes (Extra etc) post the same type of video and every airboss should make sure that the crash crews and first responders all see them.
Thank you for your wonderful video. I was really touched when I saw the A37 Dragonfly again that I had accompanied when I was in the 516th FS from 1973 to March 1975 in Da Nang, VN. Hopefully, I’ll see her in person at the next 2024 Mose Lake Air Show.
Your briefing is very good. Please let the fire and rescue personnel touch and feel the throttle, mixture, fuel shutoff, mag and master switches to get a "feel" and flow in case of an accident.
Crash fire rescue extraction video reads as if there was a crash that caught fire and this is a video of the extraction rescue of the pilot. That's how. "Safety briefing" or "reference" in title would help. Don't think it's intentional but the title is a bit click baity. @@oisiaa
@@airshowsafety5738 Your point would be valid if RU-vid videos were browsed for by the description. They aren't. They are browsed for by the title and the title of this one is a bit click-baity. Not trying to be a troll. Don't think there's any intent of click baiting, please have a great day yourself! I am and thanks!
50 years ago, when I was a teenager, my parents got me a hop in a Stearman. Before we climbed in the owner/pilot asked "where do you want to go?" "Nowhere," I replied, "I want to do some loops!" Instantly his demeanor switched - he flashed an ear-to-ear grin, and boy did I have the ride of my life!!!!
There is a blue foam used as a core throughout this aircraft. I was wondering how fire retardant it is? Has anybody been in a Long EZ fire and lived to talk about it? I know of no foam that doesn't burn like a roman candle. Problem can be solved with cowl flaps to cut off the cooling air flowing through the engine cowl followed by a large Halon fire bottle. Even still you better hope it happens close to an airport or a road.
Wow.. this is chilling to see. Rest In Peace Chris Darnell and Shockwave, and thank you for continuing the legacy and providing years of excitement and memories that’ll never be forgotten
When you said "firewall" and pointed to the area forward of the oil dipstick door, I wonder if you were actually referring to the aft baffle. I'm certain you knew that the fuselage firewall is at the aft cowling edge.
