Missed this live but I did buy a few of your bears postcards and love them! You were kind enough to include another bear with a note on the back. Fun to watch you make them. Checked out Helen Darkik, oh my how wonderful her work is!
Beautiful art, yet again! Your raccoon pen drawing made me crack a smile…. There’s a clever little raccoon who comes to visit our yard a few times a week. We’ve named him Ricardo, and he is consistently in a battle with my husband: Ricardo climbs our bird feeder poles to get to the seeds, my husband makes adjustments to the squirrel baffles on the pole, Ricardo figures out another way to climb over the baffles…etc. Anyhow, your pen drawing looks so much like Ricardo. :-D Thank you as always for making and sharing these videos!
@@monkeymintaka I LOVE my Pith sketchbook, I throw a lot at it and the pages take it really well!! I'm not surprised it's your new fave, I love mine!!xx
you are so studious! i have binged a few of your videos now (and yes, i love the 1-2 hour long ones very much) and i very often hear you say that you're behind, you didn't achieve you goals for the week, you are "lazy"...and honestly i wish i was as "lazy" as you are. you are an artist with one million sketchbooks in progress, your art is gorgeous, you work a full-time job, you hike for hours, you make youtube-videos, participate and stream drawing sessions, have an etsy shop, work on ideas for books, go to the gym, run, go on hour-long walks, watch movies, read books, watch youtube-videos, sleep a bit only to wake up in the middle of the night in order to get the most out of the day, visit places, travel, cook healthy vegan stuff, entertain family and friends and do more art! also you're friends with Arati, i mean come on! and sometimes you relax, god bless your heart:) i think you are amazing! and i wish my depressive ass would be able to accomplish more than just go to work. but that's my truth and i am so grateful, because you let me participate in your active life and get a glimpse of what that might feel like. i'm sorry, so much text, but i had to say it. i'm glad i found you<3
Thanks for your thoughtful and kind comment 🥰🥰 I will have to read this when I am having a bad day as a pep talk! I do think that watching many videos in a row can probably be a bit misleading though, while I have done all those things I definitely don’t do them all together! I have periods when I do lots of work and periods where I do nothing. But I think a lot of us are like that :) I’m glad you are enjoying the videos!
@@monkeymintaka of course, you are right, it's always good (and a requirement of being fair to a person) to differentiate. it's not all activity, it can't be. thank you so much, April <3
I love you sharing your talent, both in the drawings and in the accompanying talk. You make me laugh and smile, time and again. Thank you for being you.
You’re so talented April , like I always say your Art always amazes me . Your colour blending and animals & people & landscape inc trees & forests , your Arts always very good xx
I love it all. Especially the people and pets! I'm curious if you're able to use those images for prints or portfolio since they are actual photographs? I ask because I've kinda shied away from doing drawings from photos for that reason. But they came out so cute, I'd love to try!
Hmmmm 🤔 I haven’t really thought about it. The only prints etc I’ve made from photos are normally animals and one time I made humans into cats, so I don’t think that would be a problem. I think if you change it up more so it wasn’t recognisable it would be okay. I definitely recognise that girl with the boots and chicken, I’ve seen other people use her as a reference.
No one counts, exactly!! 😅 if there's someone who counts, would be freaking weird 😬 i'm joining the 3 materials challenge in my pace meaning once a week 🐌 always love how colourful your sketchbook s are, we get immediately happy by seeing just a few pages 🥰
We don’t! Just pigeons and lots of seagulls :) It was my neighbour doing something very strange in his driveway. I can assure you no peacocks were involved 😅
😂that’s too funny well we won’t discuss you neighbors strange goings on LOL 🤣 lovely video as usual I’m also a Patreon and a fan have a great day/ evening
i truly adore your style. it lends itself so well to be an entry point for those who don't know how to do abstract/deconstructed/loose form composition, however it's highly sophisticated. it's like magic
Wonderful vlog, April. Mont marte is the Australian bargain brand. If you brave another long haul flight and come to Sydney in Oct/Nov, there are beautiful Jacaranda cruises on the harbour, but you would need to bring purple pencils! Thanks for sharing.
Ooh I didn’t know that. It doesn’t sound Australian 😅 not sure if I can handle that long flight. I may have to stop in Asia for a few days! Would love to come back to Australia though, I’ve only been once.
What a gorgeous area! And such cool contrast between the first and second hikes. I love procrastinating big paid art projects for my own frivilous ones :)
I love the bowls I would buy too many too. The cathedral peak area reminds me of the area of Wyoming that we are moving to. So you will definitely like it when you come over for a visit.
I was going to pop some in but this vlog took so long to make I didn’t in the end. But you can find him on IG @martingarnett_photography he has all of them up now I think
That was brilliant, April, thoroughly enjoyed it. You are so good at travel vlogging! 😃 I’ve only ever seen Mont Marte art stuff in TK Maxx here in the UK and for a while I used to think it was their own brand!
Oooh that’s interesting, I never go in tk max 😅 I find it very anxiety-making. I didn’t really like the alcohol markers, but there were some nice colours.
Yes! It’s amazing. We went to Cape Town for a week last time and I would definitely recommend that side if it’s your first time visiting the country :)
Oooh so fun! Have you been before? We really want to go to Tanzania or Botswana next. But I really want to go to Asia or one of the Nordic countries first. Or the USA again. Too many places 🙈🙈🙈
I get you with the lack of "Art SUpplies" 🥲We really fall short in that department unfortunately! Honestly sometimes depressing when I watch all these artists online and their art hauls 😂We need more of these stores in SA....
Awesome! Where are you based? I moved there when I was about 6 months old and then came back to the uk when I was 5, but my dad lived in South Africa my whole life so I went back for holidays every couple of years :)
oh, please, do use the goldfaber markers on 300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper! it doesn't even have to be cotton. i swatched mine just today on my canson paper (my tombows, too) and the goldfaber are sooooo pigmented, they don't leave streaks when activated with water and they don't feel "dry" when you draw with them on watercolour paper (unlike the tombows). that really impressed me. love your art, thank you for sharing!
Really inspiring video! I recently cleaned my studio and discovered my neopastels. I have a set of 1 and then I discovered I have a set of 2 from my late father in law! (He was a painter). Now I'm excited to try both..I love seeing your process too!
Lovely views. Just wondering, if you’ve ever used those little cameras that can be strapped to your head, like some cyclists wear. .it’s just that you said you were filming at the same time as drawing..which is impressive.
I haven't but my friend sent me a link to those cameras you can wear around your neck, and that looks perfect for when I'm just sitting on a hill somewhere. So I might try one :)
Ahh yay! I’m glad :) I would like to make shorter videos too as most of mine are long and take ages to edit! So maybe there will be more in the future 👀
