"I'm not strong enough" is legitimately one of my favorite lines in fiction. It's up there with "your story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn't make you who you are. It is the rest of your story, who you choose to be" in terms of quality

I always liked the way Rebels was portraying the Empire. A lot of incompetence throughout all the ranks because people got their position not because of experience but connections and other means. This leading to a lot of hubris and a strict adherence to ranks and titles (like the: do you know who I am scene in Kenobi). But on the other hand there are extremely competent characters in the empire, that are rare but are called when the situation gets out of hand (like Thrawn in rebels) a real threat to the protagonists. This in my opinion creates a good and realistic picture of a galactic empire. Strong through force but because of its size riddled with incompetence and corruption that in some parts threaten the empire more than a resistance movement and allow a rebellion to grow under the eyes of the empire, planet by planet

As a young girl the animated Mulan was one of my favorites. I would cry when she snuck away with her fathers armor, I was mesmerized by her stubbornness and bravery. I genuinely was a bit scared of the movie because of the war scenes and how creepy they made the villains. Her internal and external conflict was so prevalent and moving to me even as a child. I have not seen the new one, but hearing it as you have described I’m so mad. Girls and women these days are being so robbed of characters with clear personalities and flaws. Things that create depth, drama, and character development. I for years have felt the forcedness of “strong female leads” in media and wondered when and WHY it has shifted this way. WHY can these people not write a character for a woman or girl that would actually exist in real life? They all feel flat, boring, and blindly confident. Besides this, they have no GENUINE personality flaws or traits that let you connect as a watcher. Mulan in the animation was clumsy, late, lacked the ability to conform to stereotypical feminine ideals (the beginning), didn’t fully respect authority, impulsive, stubborn, etc. All of this played such a major role in her character development and made her so iconic. The true lack of depth to these female leads is what really makes me and everyone else mad. We would LOVE to see genuinely well written characters. The struggle is what makes the success feel so good. It genuinely feels like we are being mocked in the media these days and like women are perceived as lacking emotional depth and the ability to intellectually contribute to solving conflict. Stop bubble wrapping the women and we’ll stop hating it.
"Better" just means they don't like the good kratos and had to gaslight the audience into thinking this soyboy kratos is developing as a character, when in reality its a bunch of lazy leftist theater nerds simultaneously destroying the original character while using his name to elevate themselves. New GoW is trash. Long live OG GoW
She doesn't just dominate for power, she also relishes in it. At one point in the series, in a rather uncomfortable scene, she forces a servant to clean her feet and toes, and she seams to rellish in the fact that the servant clearly doesn't want to do this at all, yet has no choice because they just saw Azula banish a previous servant all for accidentally giving her a fruit with a pit in it. This is something Azula lives for, even if it is in small little ways she can make people's lives hell to serve her goals, or just to see them squirm and in pain. It's a type of sick satism she has, and that scene with the servants scrubbing her feet is a good illustration of this sick satism. It's something that sometimes happens in these characters that seak unparalleled power through fear, they also turn out to be satists who enjoy and relish their dominance and their ability to strike fear in those under them.

Aragorn didn't defend his friends because that's what a man should do, he did it because he was able to. Eowyn chose to do the same, so did Arwen, and many others both men and women. Virtue, kindness, leadership, courage, etc are not assigned to gender. I think you are on the right track, but if you argument is, "there is no toxic masculinity, only toxic men," then you are still slightly missing the point. Society still reinforces harmful stereotypes that reward and reinforce damaging behavior by men who are trying to be masculine, and it's not all just from selfish actors. Always remember, society is so much larger than Hollywood. Do what you can where you are able.
Im still mad that kenobi made the inquisitors look like the stupidest idea ever when jedi fallen order made them so scary and intense and truly complex and interesting. The kenobi show literally tainted and ruined the whole idea and image of the inquisitor's. They made the grand inquisitor look stupid, reva was just a terrible rip off of trilla who was amazing, there were no purge troopers (the ones they showed dont count they did nothing), the 5th brother just looks like a grumpy old human now
am I the only one who was enjoying a lot blue eyed samurai (even thinking it could be on par with Arcane after having watched only the first episode) and then got completely disappointed on how the creators starting giving her more and more plot armor until nothing made sense?
I believe Farimir to be a much better leader especially in the long run. A more humble leader. I believe the best leaders are the reluctant leaders. As they don’t seek power for powers sake. Which Aragorn is still a great leader also. Just believe Farimir would make the better choice of the two.
He’s just finessing her my guy, he’s showing her how insignificant she really is, he’s shows her that he doesn’t need his saber to take her out and ultimately splitting her own saber and dueling her with that then ultimately stabbing her with her own weapon is the ultimate insult.
