Hello, nice channel. I do handpoke tattoos. I started two years ago with simple minimalist tattoos. I had the possibility to use a machine and I improved my knowledge. Now I can do old school and shaded works but my machine got broken and at the moment I'm back with stick and poke with more experience. Stick and poke is slow but so relaxing... I have a question: how do you use cartridge needle by hand? I've got some of my broken pen machine....😊
Hi, I startet with some self made tools to hold the cartridges. The were made out of the grips for tattoo machines. The old school one, not the pen version. But later I bought a tool from dragonhawk.
This is so interesting, I knew about the first one and I knew ofcourse that you shouldn't use cheap ink but I didn't know why or how it actually affects the skin/tattoo! And didn't know about the third either. So thank you for this useful tutorial :)
Awesome info, im just learning at the moment and have done some practice on fake skins (which i see you don't recommend) but im glad i didn't do it on myself as im just playing and learning the medium. Your videos explain some of the things i have been really wondering like pulling the lines. I do wonder how you know when tattooing what depth you are at? Does it feel a certain way or do you just try for about 2mm ?
Amazing! 4 year pmu and tiny tattoo artist here, do you think it will be an easy transition to hand poke? I’m feeling slightly intimidated but I want my work to stand out
I think it is a matter of your pactience :-) You can learn very easily to feel the right depth and stuff like that when you are expirienced with machine tattoos, but you have to learn, that handpoke takes much more time :-) That was the biggest issue for me.
Could you do another video with the second reason but including a visual with an actual needle? The drawing is a bit confusing to me but I'd love to know more!
I don't think it matters that much, but to feel safer, the best way would be to have the inside outside when wrapping things up or just cut of the for 5 cm and after that it doens't matter at all.
What a nice video, thank you ! Could you make a video where you use these needles to draw a design ? So you could tell and show us the differences between the needles. Love your videos, keep going 🤩
your videos are so helpful, I am just getting back into tattooing I did my apprenciteship with machines and have now fallen in love with handpoke! Have you ever done linework with a RS I have seen a lot of people pulling some dark saturated chunky lines with round shaders and I tried a couple of times and struggled to get a solid line, any tips if you have tried this yourself? Thanks!

Hi, i have a no 3 for a blowout: forget to put some vaseline on the the the skin before starting poking, arghhh. Dynamcic black union [ reach] is a awesome ink, almost non to no wiping in between. Quantum [assphalt] also good black, but thinner, so you have to wipe.
So i figured out not using Vaseline to control the ink but rubbing alcohol on my papper towel so when i do a line i wipe the ink and it comes right off now it does remover the stencil so be careful how you wipe but that seems to work better for me and i dont have to put as much pressure on the area to wipe with rubbing alcohol making my skin last a lot longer before turning red and swelling
Oh well, if it works for you. Just be careful, as many people don't react well to alcohol on their skin, especially while tattooing. It can irritate the skin even more.
Super helpful thank you! I'm in my research faze of my stick and poke journey. If you are interested in the medical/technical aspect the Institute of Human Anatomy has a really cool video that tells you all about the anatomy and layers of skin.
Thank you for keeping your promise to yourself!!!🤗 If it wasn't for you I would have not found a person on RU-vid really worth watching. I have learned from every video I have watched of yours and I Truly Appreciate it. Thank you for stressing hygiene. And for reminding me to Enjoy myself through my journey. Your love for this art is infectious and that you can't fake. Blessed be 💛💛💛
Yes totally agree❤ . Example pffff really the client wanted a beautifull healing memory. Somatic practice littarly embodiment of a new feeling. This why i stepping in to this calling learning from you with the knowing of healing the person transmuting that energy😊
Very helpful! I've seen metal holders specifically for handpoke needles before, been considering it. I love how you just find stuff and make it work, like that knife handle, makes so much sense, but it just has to occur to you.
Yeah, I wasn't that happy with anything on the market. The dragon hawk one wasn't released back then so I had to find a solution and I still stick to it ☺️
@@theartfulcorner961 wow, i love them so much! the first one is my favorite, a lot because it fits the style of my current tattoos :P. i also like how in the teapot and wine glass one the liquid on top resemble wings a bit! me too. i cried so much for the finale, haha! if you were based in my country, i'd come in as a client so quickly! you're very talented.
