"LT" Kingsley went on to command the CGC Mobile Bay (up in Sturgeon Bay WI) after his promotion to LCDR. Great guy. Met him during our 40th anniversary of the commissioning of the Mobile Bay (crewmember 80/81)

Worked there for 13+ years. From GEMA to DEP. Good and bad times. But don’t missed the work but missed some of coworkers. I like the plant managers before her Kevin Sells. Nice guy. Also Bruce Baumbach tough manager but he takes care good worker, no favoritism. Straight forward guy. Also GEMA president very nice guy Bruce Coventry.

Broken fence rail means she bottomed out and tore. Happens all the time in the BWCA if you run up on submerged rocks with a heavily loaded canoe.

If you look at pictures of the Fitzs, on the bottom, you can see plain as day it was hit by waves and they broke it apart and it went straight down. Look how the visor thats runs over the windows on the wheelhouse. It's bent down over the windows because waves crushed it.

People read about the EFG as they do anout the H/berg or Malay missing airline or Anelia A. to get latest theories on the mysteries not a rehash of already known history. Title says "mystery" reader wants "latest" theories or uodates! Whats nxt a talk saying Lincoln was shot!! You wont have many reporting days doing that shallow research!

Without a doubt one of the best inside looks at a Great Lakes freighter. The PRT is the biggest and the best on the Great Lakes. Spectacular video. I have a 5 foot wooden model of this ship. I love it.⛴️

Meh, I sailed on the MV Burns Harbor and she carries more capacity than the PRT. The 13 foot flared focsle on the Tregurtha doesn't do anything for capacity

It is TIME for a big budget major motion picture on the Edmund Fitzgerald…RESPECTFULLY done in such a way as to pay tribute to the brave souls who perished that night and all the loved ones left behind with only questions… I’d title it “The Big Fitz” if I had my way… RIP to that brave crew!

I was 16 back then and I remember riding my bike getting ready to cross the Anthony Wayne trail , As I was checking traffic when I looked north I could see a huge plume of smoke for miles , Clear from the south end and later on the 11 O'clock news , Then I found out what it was , Every inch of the building was on fire when they showed it and the building collapsing , It took about 3 or 4 days to get the fire out , Back in school when I was taking driver's education , We drove downtown and saw what was left of the building and you can imagine the very intense heat from the fire how it twisted the steel beams like pretzels , Unreal In July of 1975 our family moved to Olmsted falls , A suburb of Cleveland because my dad got transferred there and about a year later A JC Penney store in Middleburg heights caught fire and the whole building was on fire and collapsed , That fire was arson A guy who wanted to join the fire department got turned down and set the fire to try to prove he can put it out but it very quickly got out of control and within a matter of minutes The whole building was on fire and I saw that one burning close up as I was in the area when the fire occurred , Of course the guy who set the fire was arrested and charged with first degree arson , I was really surprised that everybody got out safely and no injuries were reported

Gordon Lightfoot is only one on this earth that is keeping the Fitzgerald alive, if it wasn't for his haunting song that ship would be long forgotten. I doubt he got the credit he deserves for keeping the Fitz memory alive along the ships crew of 29 well seasoned.......

I wish ppl would not talk crap about this. I've never done it. I've had chances glad I didn't. You do it one time. You could be hooked. I can't imagine that one choice ruins their life. Most likely ending their lives. Not like they want to die. Try to get help and get kicked to the curve. Seems like they may feel trapped. I call it Russian roulette. Sad

The Anderson may have been behind the Fitz but, so weren't the two 35 foot waves that crashed over the Anderson's bow. Captain Cooper of Arthur M. Anderson reported that his ship was "hit by two 30 to 35 foot seas about 6:30 p.m., one burying the aft cabins and damaging a lifeboat by pushing it right down onto the saddle. Those rouge waves caught up to the already compromised Fitz and sealed her fate (at about 7:15pm). RIP good and true crew of the Fitz.
