I'm 71 female and a much younger male told me about this series, this is very first time I've seen it. So beautifully done. Has anyone watched this in slow motion? Seems like there are a couple of super quick insert shots of stuff I can't make out.
I remember reading a fanfic where Mamimi grows up to be a professional photographer while Naota stays in Mabase playing in a band on the side. He’s a total grungy dude, still affected by the events of FLCL. Still stuck in his hometown where he has fallen victim to the cycle of “ordinary” as he says here. Mamimi made it big as a photographer thanks to her iconic picture of Naota holding the guitar 🎸 After years apart, when Mamimi revisits her hometown, both get to reconnect & a whole lot of drama of them figuring out their feelings for each other ensues. It’s written in a manner so close to how the show makes you feel. You could believe that it could have actually been a second or spin-off season of FLCL. Edit: Omg I actually found it! For any that want to know, it’s called “Novicain for the Soul” by user [Logan]
0:52 Cause I'm Shounen Bat from ParanoiaAgent !!! *starts playing "Toubou" in max volume" I still recall this show despite never having watched it... Since Mitsumune composed some tracks, I might wanna changs that. That artstyle and paceing kind gives me the heby jeebis tho.
It's reminiscent of a simpler more boring time when people went outside and actually spoke to eachother, teens got into mischief, little kids played with sticks pretending they were swords and guns. Yet there was an underlying dread that the world was turning to shit and there wasn't anything you could do about it, so you might as well stop and smell the roses. In other words, FLCL is 90s as fuck
So sad to see another underrated masterpiece go under the radar of a ton of anime watchers. Frankly series like this and katanagatari for example would probably be much more popular if they were easier to watch
@@slu77y Yeah, it's definitely popular, but it's much more rare among newer viewers, especially since its only on Hulu as far as I know. Although it recently apparently blew up on tik tok, so that statement is invalidated
HatzofBatz a band by the name of the pillows did the entire soundtrack for this series. that’s how you’ll find the song, check them out their music is incredible!
Farva Escobar well it’s more that he’s a kid and she’s flirting with him. He’s too young to reciprocate her feelings and isn’t mature enough to understand his feelings or tell her how he feels. He tries later but he’s coming on too strong and Mamimi likes having something submissive and reliant on her.
I had a great childhood, surrounded by cool teenage friends thanks to my sister and cousins. But at some point when I entered high school the family distanced and I was practically alone during my high school, I was very introverted and shy. I didn't do much in my adolescence and it was only at the age of 22 that I had my first girlfriend. So in my experience what happens in your childhood can be nice or ugly but it will always depend on you what you make of your life later on.
