I bought the exact car, color and everything just a few months ago at a garage sale, it's always been garage kept and looks brand new inside and out with 110k miles. The previous owner's mechanic claimed it had bad head gaskets as it heated up on them so I bought it super cheap, under $1000. I tested the coolant for exhaust gases and none were present though I did find a slow coolant leak at the rear coolant bypass that holds the thermostat and water pump and it looked like it had been leaking down for a while. When I removed all of that to replace the seals I noticed the impellers on the pump were eaten up a little, most likely the result of air cavitation from the leak and it being driven with the coolant low. I replaced everything and she runs like a dream.
Dude why wouldn't you all just do a simple repair by replacing the fender strut wheel and my a real profit for the car. U would buy the car as is .... Damn! And I'm looking for one.
I miss my '91 Grand Am (2.5L). Donated it to charity in 2020, and they scrapped it. I was so sad to see the VIN pop up in my local junkyard with "crushed" next to it. It had a lot of new parts in it that I hope somebody found. The engine was just ready for a rebuild, and I didn't have the skills to do it myself (and had too many cars for our apartment). The charity had a mechanic school, so I'd hoped they'd be able to fix her up for somebody.
Definitely a sad loss. Own an 08 sport 4.0 but auto. 140k Paid 10k private from original professional owner. Funny story, this guy took envelope with cash, never even opened to count. But then signed title over and looked sad because he was moving back ty NYC for career reasons. No place for a cherry Tacoma, lol. Cheers 🍻...
Then you own it Not me !!!! It's still a FIAT/Stellantis. I had a Fiat Durango They are share a weak FIAT transmission According to the Dodge dealer.who replaced mine at 6,796 miles. The dealership confirmed that the same transmission is in all the Jeeps, Dodge and all the minivans.
Sad that parting it out makes you guys more money than just keeping it whole. One of the BEST cars ever made by Toyota, built better quality than the Camry, best door handles, older 3SFE Engine will easily outpace many V8
