This happened 8 weeks before I was born and had a great affect on the country, for many years. How absolutely tragic for the parents. Some not losing one child, but two... May they all RIP. 😔💐
I still remember the horror of this disaster. A whole generation of children lost in a simple mining town along with the main employment opportunities. Even the Queen had tears in her eyes when she visited the site as they were still digging to find little lost souls.Heartbreaking, even 57 years on.
Even in my rural community in Michigan, we heard of this disaster. My school raised money to send and there was a plaque in our Elementary school. Exceedingly tragic. I already have this site marked in Google Earth for years now. Tremendous number of deaths and that slag was hard to remove. Thank you for taking us to this place so we can mourn them also.
Hi - I was very interested to come across this video while researching my Gt Gt Grandfather, Captain George Peacock RN FRGS. I am coordinating the fundraising effort in aid of restoring the tomb and was wondering if you might be able to help publisise it in some way? Thanks Neil Cookson , Wirral
Thank you very much for sharing. I would like to visit Widecombe in the Moor one day. This is where me earliest Norrish ancestor is recorded as living.
The house at Mossley is Mossley Hall (7:02 mins) was originally a mill owners' house, it was then bought by Mossley Borough Council and was used as the Town Hall until Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council was formed. It has since been converted into apartments I believe.
I so enjoy when they let the brush go, especially the really old ones. Dallas Texas is very hot and this looks a green and pleasant place. Very beautiful area from Google Earth. Lucky bees and butterflies. Thank you for letting us see all the beauty.
I have a distant relation buried here called Robert Irwin 1910, a child, buried in a paupers grave. His parents are from Cloonboygher, County Leitrim. RIP.
I never see you go to cemeteries with new burials or look at new or recent burials or is it just the older graves or cemeteries you visit or haunted cemeteries I just thought it would be a bit more interesting for you just an idea
My 4th great grandmother is buried here. Amelia Roe Lewis b abt. 1772 D 1856 I have her cemetery details as: Plot: CTHC/01/006 Grave Reference: G/E/4493 CTHC/01/006 Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, Tower Hamlets, London, England. I've emailed the park but was told they couldn't find or don't have the location. I was requesting a photo of the headstone or gravesite. I have a Find a Grave memorial for her 270018751 in which I have requested a photo but I'm still waiting for that. Thanks in advance for any help you can give...Linda
Amazing tombstones. Such incredible work. Hard to acquire that kind of work in these times. Wonderful video. I track the cemeteries on Google Earth so I can see where we are. Thank you very much.
So good to see you back. Such a lovely graveyard, like you I love the areas covered in natural grasses & wild flowers. Looks so peaceful, I can imagine all the little birds, lizards, mice etc scurrying around making their homes & lives in peace & tranquility. 💜
