This is exactly what I needed. I inherited an old TLR camera from my grandfather that has a leather case that has completely come apart at the seams, and this is the exact stitch I needed to use to put it back together. I know this is an old video but if anyone knows what kind of thread was used could you please let me know?
Thank you so very much Merlyn Chesterman for your Video! I feel like running down the stairs in to the Atelier and start a new project! What I see here is so exiting and inspiring !
Jeremy made a pair of clogs for me around the mid 90s when he had a little workshop in Capuchin Yard in Hereford. I loved them and wore them as daily footwear for years. I hope you're still going strong Jeremy.
Came to this video after finding a leather headband that belonged to my great uncle, that was murdered at 18, fifty years ago. Hoping to restore it and wear it myself
The skill required to hold the awl and both needles and methodically make those stitches is really easy to underestimate. I've done some stitching myself, but I would have been tangled up after a few stitches lol
little tip, you can get more views for ads if the video is longer, with all bthe video fragmented into mini clips you could just put them all in a single video, then put an ad in the begining and then 1 more near the end. :) people will also be less likely to click off or wander off the content.
This video is invaluable and so inspiring for us, the maximum skill in every movement... We've made a video about pole lathe bowl turning ourselves: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1eZqYaMv5Og.html Thank you so much for reviving this craft, our work wouldn't be possible without the knowledge shared by pole lathe turners in the past view years!
Just happened on this, forgotten about it..... Sycamore was used at Hawes [Yorkshire Dales], along with Birch and Alder; which is fine sodden but not if only damp. And you can cut across bone dry Sycamore if you get the blade razor sharp or better. I'm still learning.
