Urgent Complaint Regarding the Security Incident at the "Makkah Towers" Hotel. Stay away from this hotel if you love your life, money and property. The socket in the room caught fire in the middle of the night. Nobody cared. Your life has no value in this hotel. Since 2002, I have been working as a religious guide in hajj and umrah tours. I have worked 11 times in hajj tours and 51 times in umrah tours in various agencies. As for the "Makkah Towers" hotel, which is the subject of the complaint; I have made more than thirty stays in "Mecca Hilton", then "Makkah Millennium" and the current new business "Makkah Towers". Although we had previously stayed at this hotel under different management names ("Makkah Hilton", "Makkah Millennium" and the current "Makkah Towers"), we encountered unprecedented quality issues. These included stained curtains, dirty bedding, broken TV units, unclean cupboards, insects in the bathroom, an open ceiling, faulty toilet and room air conditioning, and a cracked mirror. This situation was unacceptable. At 4:15 a.m. on June 20, I woke up to a strong smell of smoke in my room. Disturbingly, there was no phone in the room to call for help and emergency contact information was missing. I ran out of my room and tried to alert the housekeeping staff, but to no avail. The smoke was thick and the fire alarm and extinguisher were not working. As a pilgrim, I implore you to address these serious safety deficiencies immediately. Lives were at stake and the hotel's negligence jeopardized our health. I demand both financial and moral compensation for this traumatic experience. The hotel acted with indifference. No one is taking responsibility. Human life cannot be so cheap. Those responsible must pay and our victimization must be eliminated. Assalamu Walaikum, Alhamdulillah, I had the honour of completing my Hajj in 2024 with the support of MCDC. I am profoundly grateful to the Almighty for allowing my family and me to embark on this sacred journey. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to MCDC, particularly Brother Aslam Fareed, for their exceptional support throughout our pilgrimage. I am sharing my observations and feedback based on my experience. Please note that these are personal reflections and are not influenced by any external factors. Highlights of Madina: •Accommodation at Diyar Al Takwa: I am thankful to MCDC for selecting Diyar Al Takwa as our residence in Madina. The location was convenient, and the service was excellent. After our long travels, the comfort and connection we felt at this hotel greatly enhanced our spiritual journey. •Exquisite Cuisine: One of the most memorable aspects of our stay in Madina was the food. The variety and quality of the dishes were outstanding, offering a delightful culinary journey that reflected the rich flavours and unique ingredients of the region. •Welcoming Staff: The hospitality we received was remarkable. Special mention goes to Brother Fadhil for his tireless efforts in ensuring our comfort. The kindness and friendliness of the staff, from the reception to the service personnel, significantly enriched our experience. Challenges in Madina: •Journey from Julhulaifa to Makkah: The 12-hour trip from Madina to Makkah was arduous and could potentially dampen the entire journey's spirit. I appreciate Brother Aslam Fareed's efforts to address this issue, but there is a need for better planning and adherence to schedules. Given the pilgrimage's significance, especially for elderly participants, more empathy and careful consideration are required. I trust that MCDC will take this feedback seriously for future improvements. Highlights of Makkah: •Accommodation at Royal Maad: After a great experience at Diyar Al Takwa, the Royal Maad hotel was somewhat disappointing. The room conditions were substandard, with issues such as insects, unpleasant odours, and unclean linens. Although the staff made efforts to assist, there is a need for MCDC to ensure better hygiene and maintenance standards to prevent illness before the crucial days of Hajj. •Quality of Food and Catering: The catering service in Makkah was commendable. The availability of juices, tea, and water throughout the day was a relief, especially in the intense heat. The catering team played a crucial role in supporting us during the sacred days. Challenges in Makkah: •Transportation Issues: Navigating Makkah was a significant challenge. Despite the availability of public transportation, better coordination and communication, particularly regarding hotel transportation before and after the Hajj days, could alleviate many difficulties. The rude behaviour and fraudulent practices of some taxi drivers also made travel stressful and costly. •Language Barrier: The shortage of English-speaking individuals made communication difficult at times. Basic tasks, such as understanding bus schedules or asking for directions, often required extra patience and effort. MCDC should consider improving support for non-Arabic speaking pilgrims to facilitate a smoother experience. •Lack of Guides: One of the major drawbacks was the inadequate guide service. The absence of clear instructions and reliable information about Ziyara and transportation options led to confusion and missed opportunities to fully appreciate the pilgrimage. As someone not fluent in Arabic and not an Islamic scholar, I found the lack of guidance challenging, despite following the Hajj book instructions. The advertised inclusion of guide services needs to be fulfilled more effectively by MCDC to enhance the pilgrimage experience. Despite these challenges, my overall experience with MCDC was positive. The excellent food and the friendliness of the staff significantly mitigated the difficulties with transportation and communication.
