I know this is an old video but I had to comment. I can appreciate the frustration with DeWalt.....but don't you have any corded saws you could've used? I have some cordless tools, but as a professional I'd never be without corded back-ups.
Yeah, you’re right. I have a ton of saws corded and cordless (that I think I used off camera) but I wanted to put the new saw thru its paces…and rant a little about how disappointed I was in the release. Thanks for the comment! I’m relaunching the channel early next year so I appreciate the interaction!!!
I’m obsessed with woodworking and building of many types. However, I just read about it probably 20 hours a week and don’t actually do it. I guess bc I’m overwhelmed with the tools and options. I plus I need more instruction and details. Can you do any videos like that? Type out or put links to the tools you use and the types of wood and dimensions? Pleaseeee and thank you.
A tip for marking stud measurements on a board is to only set you tape once and use the 16 inch markings. Moving the tape to each mark only compounds any slightly short or long mark and if each mark is off by even a 1/16 of an inch, you may end up considerably off by the time you mark your last stud
Good video and would be the "only DIY floating shelf video you'll ever need" except for 1 thing. I need to know how to mat a set of floating shelves that wraps inside a corner. ??????
How do you secure the box to the frame once you slide it in and against the wall? I'm sure you would need to secure it so it doesn't slip out, right? 😁😁
Awesome tutorial! I’m noticing that no one that makes these gives advice on how to determine how deep the shelves can be before they start to sag. How does one figure out that measurement?
I am building a floating bar top to my wall. I like how you didn't use brackets. I am wanting to build a 9ft long bar ledge. What is the approximate cost for one of your shelves? My wall is concrete, does that change anything about the installation process? What is the depth of your shelves? I am looking to do 9-12 inches in width. Thanks for your assistance.
Hi Ryan, newbie in the woodworking game.....Maybe a stupid question, but what is that jig you used to cut the 45* in the support boards? Where might I find one? Great videos, love the instruction!
Yes there are many, but I finally found a few vids which doesn't require using many tools to make your own floating shelves. To be fair, these vids are more recent. Yes, these diy floating shelves are still... well, floating around on the Tube. ;)
Great video, glad to see you doing the Kreg pocket holes for the mounting frame. The way you did these shelves is exactly what I had planned for my build. Thanks from Canada 🇨🇦
At 12:00 are you putting a screw straight down into the top of the shelf? It looks like on the other shelves you are just sliding them onto their brackets. Great video!
