I am at the site now. Thanks alot for this. Perhaps it would be a good idea to create a QR code and place it in pamphlets and the Alexandria visitor periodicals moving forward, linking the video. Just an idea.

Yeah and he tried blaming the British for their codes being broken in North Africa . It was the American attachés incompetence that caused the intelligence leaks. He was removed from North Africa soon after

It's June 16th 2022 and im in the mood for some Juneteenth celebration! Living abroad, such theatrical celebrations are rare, but thanks to the Historic Alexandria Museum and of course the WASHINGTON REVELS JUBILEE, my mood is definitely on and I am so enjoying this video. Thanks to Virginia and to the Jubilee singers that I can enjoy my history abroad! As we say in the local language Asante Sana - thank you very much. Great detail. My interest is my ancestor fought at Brandywine. My best research is that he was part of Armstrong's soldiers and was on the left flank. He may have been wounded but needs to be confirmed. Thank goodness he was not killed....hence I'm able to write this note.

A very informative step-by-step description of Sullivan's troops and sentry outpost communication; a great addition to an already great book. I live near the Squire Cheyney farm and visit the area covered in this video often. Thank you both for a great presentation!

That's My Dad.....He's 96 and still living in Alexandria......and I Live in Texas. Quite ironic that I would move to Texas, raise a family. The Battleship Texas is now a museum at San Jacinto Battleground. Texas children saved pennies to help fund the ships repairs. Thank you kind "Mr. Historian" for making this

Darllene: So glad that your dad is still with us! My dad was also a WWII vet. who participated in the Normandy Invasion with the U.S. Army Artillery. He died 4 years ago, but he would have been 97 this year. I wonder if he ever met your dad! (His name was Bernard Brand.) Moreover, he was also awarded the French Legion of Honor distinction by the Govt. of France for his efforts to help liberate France from the Nazis.

@@michaelbrand8279 Hi Michael....When and where did your dad receive the Honor medal? My dad's was a little later than others. I think it was 2019 at the French EMbassy in D.C. Where did your dad reside? How old are you Michael? Our country must get back to the IDEALS of our greatest generation !
@michaelbrand8279
@michaelbrand8279 3 года назад
@@darleneduck I think that my dad received his medal in 2014 or 2015. He was living in southern Indiana then; so, he was invited to the French Consulate in Chicago to receive his award. However, he couldn't travel easily for long distances then because of limited mobility due to old age, past injuries, & several joint replacements. Consequently, he received his medal, certificate, & official letter from the French Gov't. via mail. I'm 61 now. "Our country must get back to the IDEALS of our greatest generation !" Wow -- it's like you were reading my mind!!!
