Quite interesting to see the need and incentives for creating a cadre of tailings professionals. However, I am not sure why there is such a focus on "graduates" in Tailings disciplines? For sure additional engineers and managers are needed but not at a 1-1 ratio. The lessons of @Laura Fidel (WSP) and her history of treatment, engagement, vilification, and absolution as a young engineer notwithstanding ...courage will be an important denominator, as well as actual data and data technicians in a pervasive monitoring scenario. We developed our Tailings and Impoundments Reflectance Index Service as a tool for looking at wide-area (many assets) sites and particular awareness development of the ongoing and dynamic status of the operations. for less than ~$US11,000 a year you can engage with a data exhibit from any location and align with site instrumentation or staff tasks relevant to operational and safety delivery. Depositional intelligence at affordable rates can empower even operational and production technicians with oversight from corporate and or regional SMEs or an EOR - who may hold responsibility for several operations. See www.aamonitoring.net. Due diligence infers the actual practice of the diligence discovered and specified in an ERP, TARP, or Operating Manuals.
