I enjoyed your video and extra effort. Some days are like that a LV and other days can be red hot for Lassen's. Guess it's if you're lucky enough to get there shortly after a stocking!
I watched the whole video from start to finish brotha, i enjoyed the video and thought it was entertaining. Even though you didn't catch any fish I still appreciate the effort you put into going out there and getting out of your comfort zone. Alot of people would let the fear of the unknown stop them, and for you to face the unknown , fail, and still have a positive outlook on fishing. I respect the hell out of you man, and I want to watch you to succeed and gain confidence .
Great vid man! Two of the first things I learned when I started surf fishing were using google maps and tide charts. These are absolutely key to know where and when to fish certain spots. No better way to learn and get better at surf fishing is to get out there and try different things out. I also agree about spot burning people spend hours/days researching and fishing different spots to find what works so people should work hard to find their own but that is just me. However, I more than willing to give advice and tips if people need them. You also mentioned why do people enjoy surf fishing? For me, nothing better and more calming than waking up at the crack of dawn catching the sunrise as you cast your lure into the surf. Having that cool ocean breeze on your face and while the waves crash upon your feet. Absolute bliss. Plus after so many failed trips, the day you catch that trophy fish in my case a legal halibut or White Sea Bass it makes it all worth it. Plus catching big fish from the surf on light gear is so much more fun than on a boat. Stay determined! Good luck!
Hey young brother, just wanted to give you a little encouragement, and best wishes with finding happiness in fishing more. I'm in the Monterey / Santa Cruz area and fish (and fly) over that area a lot by boat and rescue helicopter. If you want to make a video on a boat, you're welcome to catch a ride on my center console. For me, fishing is quite often a solo activity too, and there is a lot of peace in that.
Hey since you're just getting in into surf fishing and you already have a busted reel check out kastking sharky3 , these are very inexpensive reels and it's a sealed reel. I've had mine in the sand and submerged in the salt water with no issues. By the way I like your attitude towards fishing, keep at it you will get on some fish soon enough 😉
