They use their feet like air brakes and rudders, and they are powerful flight birds and lift off quite effortlessly. Love watching these birds in flight and all their relatives.

I never knew that the babies gained locomotion so quickly. They're truly nomadic. Amazing.

We have a one acre pond, Ten feet deep. Garter Snakes are swimming in the water with us going after the many huge Tadpoles. I didn’t realize Garter Snakes swam so well.

The " two week" nesting period is misleading. Maybe for that particular bird but they attack for a couple of months.

Has me wondering if magnetic weakening/shifting is causing both bird guidance issues and more severe solar storm levels??? Beautiful work, as usual, Mike.
@JuanLopezXVIII
@JuanLopezXVIII 23 дня назад
Yes to both, but thankfully a full polar magnetic shift takes about >800,000 years so we have time to adapt
