Glad you got those stitches out Mark! Good to see you guys out on the water gettin on a few. Was hoping you guys were going to catch a giant! Thanks as always for sharing!
I got an idea for Drake to get some practice, Let's do a tournament later in July. I've got several teams that want to participate. I'll get ahold of you in the next couple of days...
What's the biggest bag you think it could support ? Im running the same setup, but it takes 20 lbs to win most of the local tournaments. Im worried if i ever get a bag like that, it won't support it.
Was looking forward to this video Mark! It happens- it happened to me this spring at Parker with a jerkbait. That shit HURTS!!! The barb was all the way in but not as bad as yours. My wife was my HERO that day...I just couldn't manage to yank the hook with the line....Ha!!!
Ever thought about mashing your barbs down on your practice day baits and only using barbed during tournaments? There’s a RU-vid vid of Doug Hannon (The Bass Professor) where he claims you’ll land more bass on a barbless hook which I don’t believe. I’ve only buried the barb once in over 50 years of fishing and I guided. That was on a Heddon Torpedo when I was about 12 years old and that bass put one hook in my thumb and the other in my index finger. Catfish on the other hand have stuck me many times and they have a protein in their fins that cause a lot of bleeding and pain. Bad deal getting hooked with a bass still hooked and flouncing and your by yourself trying to get it off the hook one handed.
Your a tough guy Mark! Glad you got medical help with this one. Thanks for reminding folks the importance of having a first aid kit on your boat! I felt for ya my man! Keep gettin after em out there! Looking forward to more great content. Hope it heals up quickly!
I spent all that money on livescope and I don't catch anymore fish than when I didn't have it...I see fish but that doesn't mean the fish are biting with what im throwing.
That sucks...I did that last summer, the hook went under the skin where the finger nail is and I drove my boat to the marina and got help at a boat shop..it hurt like hell but we got it out...I am VERY carefull now and aware of what I am doing with a lure.😅
Whopper plopper was the top water lure that got me. Right in the thigh while boat flipping a bass. Talk about painful. It happens to all of us from time to time. Hope you're doing alright & it heals quickly. Good luck this weekend.
You need to start using cheap dull Chinese hooks. Wasn’t it about a year ago this also happened? Speaking of horrendous infections, my uncle had flesh eating virus in his leg and they opened his entire leg to the bone to get it out. Years later it returned and he had to go through that same ordeal again. I saw the photos of his leg laid open and it was bad. He thinks he got it from swimming in lake Texoma. He lives next to the lake.
I have never been to the hospital for having been hooked. My cousin hooked me once in my back and he just ripped it out. I have had several hooks in my hand and had to cut the barb to remove the hook. I also keep a set of dykes to cut the Barb so it's easier to remove and I always keep peroxide on my boat for this occasion. But if you're going to fish this is going to happen. I hope you get better and keep fishing.
Broke down the other day and bought myself a pontoon boat for the crappie fishing and leaving the ranger for bass fishing. Wish you luck at the tournament man and heal up soon
Whenever someone gets a new boat I always tell them to practice that on the water, practice popping a spare plug in from the inside while the boats on the trailer and make sure you have enough blocking to actually change the trailer tire if you needed to.
