My youngest daughter, Raelynn, has several medical complications. Among other things, she has epilepsy and quadriplegic cerebral palsy. As a result of being her mom, I've learned that I actually kind of enjoy the medical field. I've learned to use all sorts of medical equipment such as suction machines, shaker vests, nebulizers, etc. I've also taken care of PICC lines, given shots, dressed many wounds, and a host of other things. I've learned a lot of medical lingo along the way, so much that I've sometimes been confused for already being her nurse when I've been in hospitals with my daughter, even before I was a nurse!
I'm so happy to finally have my degree so that I can start working in my own home, with my own daughter!

I loved the Bondi 5 and 6 but the 7 and 8 hurt my feet more the moment, I put them on. I have working 3.5 12 hour nursing shifts then I found these shoes and I had not pain after the fourth day. I do always were my compression socks as well and I replaced them about every six months, so I have been through several pairs of the Hoka Bondi's but they changed them somehow between the 6 or 7. So, if you have a wider foot, they are not as comfortable as the original ones I tried.
You are one terrific mom that shows a lot of love 💕 to your daughters Rian and Emily the hospital 🏥 will love you because you're very sweet You're patient loving and caring
Hey Abby! I am hoping to CLEP at the end of the month but I will not be done with the Modern States material until 2 days before I hope to test. After I register for the test am I able to test whenever? About how long after registering do you think I can take it? Thanks!
i called it my super hero photo shoot, i only got 1 on the 2 contrasts becayse of a blue dye allergy. i agree with how youdescribed the noises they all sounded funny to me.
Hi I am interested in this program- do you feel it’s doable and attainable - how was the rest of the program? I am a mom of 2 little and would love to know what you think. I know it’s been a couple years.
I tried on these shoes at Dicks Sporting goods the other day. They would be great for my flat feet and bad knee. But, their not splash resistant or puncture resistant. How, then, are these shoes good for nursing?
I don’t know you personally but I’m proud of you. These videos are so inspirational and encouraging that if a person put their mind to it, it can be done. 💫
Your daughter is so lucky to have a great support system around her, I myself wasn't diagnosed as an epileptic until after a rather traumatic experience at an all night found raiser at my High School. I count myself as extremely lucky to also have an extremely caring and empathetic family.
RN Abby, I am an epilepsy patient who is well managed on a trifecta of ant consultants and have been stable for quite a few years now. How many children do you have Abby? I really admirer you for not only being a Nurse but also a nurse with a severely epileptic child, I myself was diagnosed as an epileptic after I sized at an all night MDA fundraiser at my high schools gymnasium.
Hi there! Thanks so much for doing such a video! I have a question if it’s okay to ask, how many times a week did you go to clinicals? Or overall, how often are the in-person classes ? Thanks again!
There weren't any in-person classes, but there were two times we had to go to Elmhurst for in-person training (once at the beginning, and once at the end of the program, for 3-4 days each time). The clinicals, you can arrange with your assigned clinical supervisor according to their work schedule. Each semester had increasingly more clinical hours required. If you space them out, even at the most demanding semester, I only had like 2 days of clinicals per week.
It was $10,000 cheaper and 4 months shorter. Add the 4 months extra pay to the $10,000 (because I could start working as a nurse 4 months sooner), and that's a lot of money. Also, having a masters in nursing with zero nursing experience just seemed odd to me. I think if I was younger and thought I would want to move up the ladder to NP one day, it might have been worth it, but ADN, BSN, and MSN all get the same pay in private home nursing usually.
Not that exact pair, but Hoka shoes...YES. I think the cushion part wears out before the shoe falls apart. Those have been replaced by a navy pair of Hokas!
