Bought cattle from Mexico? I don’t think so. Stole cattle from Mexico and brought the Mexicans back to work the camps. Rumor has it the Running W came from rebranding cattle from the US cattle company. Great heritage and a major corporation though.
I was born there in '47. Most my relatives were there when I was growing up. Good memories. It's a nice place to live and get away from horrendous traffic we suffer through here in the Dallas metroplex.
When I was stationed at Dyess AFB in Abilene Texas in 1979-1983 I had to pass through Anson to get to my girlfriends house in Haskell Texas. I was only an A1C in the Air Force so I didn't have a lot of money and I knew that going back to Abilene I didn't have enough gas and no money so I pulled into a gas station in Anson. I told the lady my predicament and she took pity on me and let me pump 10 bucks in my tank which almost filled it up. I never forgot how wonderful and kind she was to me. All those small towns in Texas have the friendliest people in the country. I did pay her back though and ended up marrying my girlfriend at the First Baptist Church in Haskell. They also did a few movies in Anson also. Great memories.
Place is a dump do not move here! Period ! Freezing cold winters, very unpredictable weather, dust storms, and wind is insane and you can’t keep anything clean,Place is very flat and depressing .
Is that near the beach/island? I haven't seen that side of corpus christi. I mostly go to downtown where mardel's, heb and target are located on stapels
