Find these videos are fascinating! I was fascinated with phones long ago when I was a toddler. Thought....WOW.... you could pick up the receiver 📞 and dial the numbers on the little ring and a person would pick up you didn't know!!!!! WOW.. WOW!! That kinda ended when I dialed a long distance number and it showed up on our phone bill! I got into trouble and that ended that. Phones are fascinating devices for sure no matter what time period and what they looked like.📞☎️📳

In Nashua NH in 1964 we only had to dial the last five digits of the phone numbers. Our number was Tuxedo 2-4450. I only ever had to dial 2-4450.

I wish I was immortal. I wish I could have lived through these changes. As simple as they seem now, they were landmarks in their day. My grandmother was born before people knew what network television was and she lived long enough to enjoy the MCU in it's infancy. Imagine what we'll see in our lifetime now, and I wish I could see all of the technological advancements throughout all of human history.

WO-4 9970 WOODWARD 4-9970 in Detroit. I can still remember around 2000, old-timer mom-and-pop businesses would still have the old letter exchange in their ads. TRinity and TYler were other common letter exchanges in the area.

BELL SYSTEM NOT FOR SALE At one time this was seen on almost every phone. I remember my father telling me at this time that you could dial a certain number hang up the phone and then it would ring. It would drive people crazy.

I was born in 1954 (this makes me feel reeaalllly old). High tech in the 60’s were colored phones and extension cords. My least used function on my iPhone today is the “voice call” function. 😎

Haha this is kind of wild. I grew up with a "party line". We and the neighbors down the road could listen in on each other calls. We had different phone numbers but it was a good thing that we were friends.

I remember back when we first got on the dial up internet that we could dial using two commands. ATDP was for pulse dialing , like the rotary phone she uses in the video, and ATDT which was tone dialing. There was also just ATD (attention dial) which I believed used the pulse dialing. I think we definitely take a lot for granted in today's world.

Is it possible that rotary phones might work today or is that something dead and buried? I remember as a kid in the 80s my cousin had a lime green one in her den and i remember calling from it and playing with it when they got touch tone button one. Wish I could find one and keep it on a shelf as a show piece.

if you can find a landline, try it. just tap the little switch that disconnect and answer the phone, the bit on the unit, not the touchpad on the reciever
