BLOWING DIESEL is a community of guys who love working on their trucks and don’t rely on anyone else to do the work for them. We take pride in our work and help each other improve our trucks while saving a buck. So at the end of the day when we need to blow off some steam, we have a truck ready to blow diesel.

This is the 7.3? Really curious about these trucks and that motor. Thinking of trying to get one and just don't some basic mods to give it a little more power while keeping it reliable and running a looong time.
Do you have the coil buckets for the excursion? I’m in Phoenix, you can use my excursion as a guinea pig if you haven’t produce them. Building a very nice excursion with 2016 front clip. I have the superduty axles.
Bummer ! I found a unit from Gerber designs but the lead time is a bit much. Have you looked at other makers ? Seems odd that obs types are few and far between.. Maybe a modified one from a newer ford would work .. Let me know if you have any ideas.. Thanxxx.
Thank you! I’ll go over it in the next video, but basically to be able to go really low with it especially once we do full air. Plus being in Arizona we don’t really need it haha
I'm doing a f550 4x4 axle on my 89 F350. Currently looking for the right combo of steering parts so I can run the axle lock to lock on the knuckle stops. I'm almost 100% positive there is a different steering gearbox and pitman arm for 06 to 10 f350s that were custom ordered with dually axles. Currently driving the parts house crazy with p/n's and comparisons. I'll let you know what I end up with.
Idk if you saw my latest video but on my 2020 f450 axle it came with the pitman arm and it’s about 1.5 - 2” longer then the regular SD arm that on its own would add more angle the only problem is that it does not allow full engagement of the nut on the sector shaft. I am thinking of getting it machined down some to allow for the full engagement.
@@blowingdiesel I just watched your latest vid. Great work man. I found that my Orileys sells a power steering gearbox with a 38mm sector shaft (p/n 61-5291). I'd think the one in your video has the same sector shaft size or similar since you can start the pitman arm. All of the boxes i've looked at vary 1-3mm. I found the one that is the smallest (38mm). I then took the same f450 pitman arm you tried (p/n K400030) and I filed it down about 1.5 mm. This took forever with a small triangle file and flat file, but after getting the pitman arm started in the correct orientation I was able to run the nut all the way up and now my f450 pitman arm is on my f350 gearbox and I can turn axle stop to stop. The spine size difference is roughly 3mm, so if you can hog out the pitman arm and run a box with the smallest available sector shaft, it will work. This was a bigger deal for me, since I wanted to keep my 89 F350 single wheel but get the 45 degree turning radius, so I've converted the f550 axle to 8 lug and am running 2020 f350 20" wheels with big 3" fender flares.
I rented a big pitman arm puller from AutoZone. The puller arms would not fit between the pitman arm and the gear box. I used a grinder and a cutting flap disk to cut into the old pitman arm to allow the puller arms to fit in the space between there. Only had to remove maybe a 1/8 of an inch on each side of old pitman arm.
I am about to do the same thing thanks for the nice made coil buckets and track bar mount. everything looks awesome. Ryan from Lexington. I will do some pictures and videos when I get around to my bronco
Hey man, love what you're doing. I've been a happy customer with all the swap brackets I've bought from you over the years. What are you going to do for a steering gearbox and pitman arm? I'm currently swapping a f550 axle in my 89 f350, and I'm down to trying to find the right gearbox/pitman arm combo.
Enjoyed your video. Those casters look exactly like what I need to use under my 20 Ton Harbor Freight press. I have the variable speed reversible Vevor. It works really well. I hooked up the coolant reservoir and filled it with machining coolant that is made from concentrate mixed 1:9 with water. It really helps to cool the annular cutters and make them last longer.
I know this video is old I bought my truck 500 bucks rear end locked up ONLY thing wrong with it ik for a fact used to work on the truck guy was gonna scrap it lol Lucky for me I don’t have a lot of stuff in the way for pipes will be easy also guy put a t-4 kit on his e99 truck truck asked me if I wanted everything just gave it to me ! I have everything other than a cooler right now
I just got an f250 that had this rear swap done. The e brake was never hooked up. Is there a middle piece to connect the two rear lines to the front line? Any advice would be appreciated
We usually use the part that connects the 2 lines coming from the axle to the 1 line from the pedal that the OBS trucks come with you will also have to move the bracket on the frame forward a few inches.
My vote would be option 1. Was thinking of going the over lander route with my 97 4x 7.3 with 112k. Now I’m thinking of getting rid of it. Maybe you’ll re-motivate me.
