How much strain/stress do the shunt mod do over time? Or is it just within specs?
@Pilotgeek
@Pilotgeek 9 дней назад
I have had zero issues with the shunt mod, but I am also mindful of how I use the bike. I usually only need the power for relatively short hills or accelerating up to speed. Most electric motors are rated for their continuous output but can take quite a bit more current for brief periods; I imagine it's possible to overheat the motor or controller at 1500w if you used full power for an extended period of time such as extended hill climbing. Even with the shunt mod, on level ground full throttle only draws about 600w as top speed appears to be limited by peak motor RPM and not power output. The peak current should be within spec for the components I found in my controller provided it doesn't overheat.
@RobertJohanssonRBImGuy
@RobertJohanssonRBImGuy 9 дней назад
@@Pilotgeek Thanks, appriciated your reply as I ordered one I just wanted to know if I do that shunt mod later I know what i get into. I live in a slightly hill area depending where one go. I guess i find out if its enough as is or if it needs the mod later. due to disability i have to use trottle only.
@Pilotgeek
@Pilotgeek 9 дней назад
@@RobertJohanssonRBImGuy I would try it on throttle only first. It's definitely perfectly adequate as-is. I mostly did the mod just out of curiosity and to see if it would increase the top speed, which it did not.

@@RoyalAlbert besides adding grommets to the headlights, I have not had to do anything as far as waterproofing. @Pilotgeek
@Pilotgeek 11 дней назад
@@kingnull2697 I think some of my problems were self induced. The suspension pivot was probably not designed to have offset torque of someone putting significant pedal force through it. Same with the low stock seat; it wasn't really meant to be pedaled much. In stock form, it is honestly fine enough but I like to upgrade things a bit too much. I was happy with it out of the box, but as time went on, curiosity got me to try new things but that's part of the fun of a cheap bike to me. Torque arm and dropout mods also probably aren't necessary, but I previously modded the controller to output 50% more power.

Yes, I'm sure it's possible. I thought about adding an HC-SR04 sonar sensor to the front and making a little bot for my son to play with using the same chassis. In my experience, it works well to steer a robot using light sensors on each side to make "casual" steering choices away from dark areas, and a sonar sensor to detect if you get close to something.

Thank you the video helped me a lot 👏👍 yes I didn't have it as fast as it seemed easy but I made it 😂😂 now finally the fork works somehow. I have to hold out till Christmas then there comes the fork from Fox . Unfortunately it's made for 27.5 rims not 20 rims . The difference between the 20 and 27.5 fork is 13cm in length but it will change the geometry and load on the frame. After much consideration I replaced the rear shock with a Fox spring shock 230mm long due to the weight of the bike and what I expect the characteristics on the second Dh bike I even replaced the air for a spring and sold the air shock. From your next video I changed the converter for a bigger one and I don't have to pedal like a hamster in a cage at speeds over 30km/h. I still want to try to increase the performance from your video but I'll leave that to the professional. I don't want to destroy the driver and wait many days for a new one.
@Pilotgeek
@Pilotgeek 24 дня назад
I have seen others opt for longer forks in the front, even with a larger tire as well. It looks a bit odd but seemed to work okay, especially if you do raise the rear with a longer shock. Good luck!
